According to Google they are edible and very sort after in China.  Looks like you are just about to start up a new Norfork business MM?  :default_winko:

I have been to China and trust me they will eat anything and I mean anything (can't find a sick emoji).

I asked one guy why they eat chickens feet, he said they believe the closer to the bone the sweeter the meat :default_blush: I replied HOW MUCH MEAT is there on a chickens foot.

Well, of course, 100% occupancy at 100% of list price is the utopia that any holiday business would aim for but I doubt there are many boatyards that would expect to achieve that and if they did, then they should be looking to expand their fleet or increase their prices.

I would argue that we have seen some yards offering substantial last minute discounts and that encourages customers to delay booking in the hopes of last minute discounts. If those boards of directors or investors lack the imagination to promote strategically to maximise the balance between occupancy and profit then they shouldn't expect much sympathy when they have to offer massive discounts in a desperate attempt to stimulate some bookings and cash flow.

As @CambridgeCabbysaid, the “book early for best prices” model works very well in the airline / travel industry.

And then really annoy customers who have already booked a holiday in October, then see massive discounts being offered.

  3. We moored in the Norfolk broads direct marina last week and really struggled to find a spot.

The carpark side was packed with their boats as were all the other sections.

We managed to scrape a spot down where they do the pump outs but had to leave before 8.

    Barns Brinkcraft looked the same.

  4. We were hoping to get up to Coltishall but the low water times don't look favourable.

Luckily the air draft is only 6f 5in so will give the bridge pilot a ring next weekend to see what are the earliest we mite be able to get under and back.

  5. After being out on Evening light 2 in October and seeing the condensation on the boat it got me thinking when I was looking on the barns and Herbert wood webcams.

Seeing all the boats back at the yards, how on earth do they control the condensation on them all or do they just not bother.

  6. Well we decided to defer our holiday in September to next year (again 2nd time).

Luckily we have managed to get Evening Light 2 for the 9th October ( same boat that we had in June).

Looking forward to it fingers crossed for the weather it was superb in June.

2nd trip this year third overall and already booked for June next year.

Getting the feeling it would be cheaper to become an owner 🤔

We (attempted) to go down there a few years ago in Brinks Duet when it was blowing a good 30kt+ wind side on.

I did exactly that this June in a 30ft boat. The wind made it a difficult job turning around at the end.

And don't get me started about the bloody day boats getting in the way when you are trying to get moored up in the wind with other boats on both sides of the dyke :default_icon_eek:

Lovely pictures and glad you had a good time. As others have said it is addictive!

How did you get on with finding mooring spots? It sounds like it's super busy this year.

We didn't have any issues but yes it was busy. We tended to get moored up for mid afternoon and then go off walking or drinking :default_biggrin:

  9. Well we have just got back from what can only be described as a stunning week on the north broads.

This was our second visit and we have already booked our third in June next year.

The boat Evening Light 2 was spot on and a big thanks to Herbert Wood’s, they have come in for a bit of criticism on trip advisor but our experience was overall very good. Hand over could have been a bit quicker but we were not going anywhere on the Saturday evening due to the three rivers race.

We managed to get under Wroxham bridge this year and had a lovely night in Coltishall (this was our longest trip Barton Turf to Coltishall).

It’s going to seem like a long wait till next year.

  10. We pick the boat up on the 5th from Herbert Woods was hoping to get under the bridge Low water 5pm (Evening light 2 6'10" air draught) do they go under the bridge as TheQ mentioned Hickling broad. If not may just have to stay put on the Saturday :407_beer: :409_wine_glass:, what will it be like on the Sunday !

:default_biggrin:  don't worry Paul - I'm not sure if anything definite has been organised yet! As I understand it the race starts from Horning on Saturday morning and contestants have the option of how they tackle the course - it covers Ludham Bridge, Acle Bridge and Potter Heigham Bridge hence the 3 rivers bit. Its all about tactics which order you tackle them in. It shouldn't bother you too much - just keep well over to the right hand bank if you see flappy stuff ahead or even better adjourn to the pub! :default_beerchug:

Sounds like a plan. We came across a few this year no problem.

I had the vision of it just being rammed with them.

we don’t pick the boat up while Saturday afternoon.
