  1. Ah I think see so with the sea cocks closed and weed filter lid off i can just pour the antifreeze down it until it comes out of exhaust the refit filter and lid and were done? Sorry if the questions seem dumb but if you google it you get all manner of answers so as a rookie boat owner you don't know what to do. Thanks for your help much appreciated
  2. Thats what I thought I had read. Hence going back to my original question once I turn off seacocks do I then run the engine until no water comes out of exhaust ( is there danger of damaging the engine during this short period of no water?). Then take off lids to weed filters (which hopefully means water upstream in the engine doesn't flood out) . Then pour antifreeze down the weed filters, refit lids then run for short time until antifreeze comes out of exhaust , then shut down and everything is hunky dory.
  3. I Thought I read somewhere about running antifreeze through the raw water to protect it during winter
  4. Hi If I want to remove the weed filter to drop antifreeze in for winter, I obviously shut the sea cock, but do I then need to run or turn the engine over to empty the pipes or can I just unscrew the top and away we go? Also once off do I just pour antifreeze in until it tops out then run for a few seconds until it comes out exhaust,? Is there a risk of damaging the engine if no water is in there? Thx
  5. Thanks i think I saw that in Norfolk Marine in Wroxham
  6. Hi Looking for recommendations for antifreeze to put in raw water system over winter. As you run the system until it spews out the exhausts is there an eco friendly version that doesn't damage the aquatic life after it drops in the marina?
  7. Thanks for this , I think it fits to a splined shaft with no nut I think, however its very corroded so am guessing its going to be a pain to prise off
  8. The blade fitting seems very slim to be a car fitting though
  9. Hi This is on a Princess as well so maybe its standard then
  10. A botch is what I was thinking, looking at the arm itself it looks very corroded onto the splines on the motor, so I am guessing this is why they have done it this way thx
  11. Hi can someone please identify the attached wiper blade pics, cant work out if they are a botch up, or a specific type . Been trying to buy online but can't find anything that looks similar
  12. Hi Are there any companies that people have used that come out and do gelcoat repairs on site. They are not massive repairs but I fancy getting a professional job done rather than a potential bodge by me.
  13. Hi Recently acquired boat which has tanks about half full, I am guessing this fuel will have some diesel bug additive in it but have no idea what make , my question is does it matter if I add another additive to the one already in there which might be a different make, or is it all about the same stuff so won't react with each other ? Thx
  14. Hi have you got a number and company name fior Alex Fraser please Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  15. Hi wonder if someone could point me in the direction of a 3 person tender that is good value for money and also an online retailer that they trust as have seen some dodgy reviews of some when trawling the net. Also an outboard that again doesn't break the bank (quite fancy electric if that would move it) . Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  16. Tingdene brundall Bay, went and checked today and they don't seem to be bothered who I have. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  17. Engine is ford mermaid , water leak at what i think is a pump housing. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  18. Can anyone please give me some reccomendations for Marine Engineers around Brundall. Along with some idea as to ball park prices for things like servicing, winterisation and repairs. Many thanks Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  19. What frequency do I need to add to the diesel is it something I need to do regularly or is it a once a year thing Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  20. Thanks I think the top up and additive route seems like the way forward Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  21. No not really just had this brainwave of what if its cheaper to get a polisher fitted(if they are available) then I need only ever have the tank a quarter full. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  22. Hi After some guidance, does it work out more cost effective to have a fuel polishing system fitted to my tank rather than filling tank to brim (400 litres) when I leave it over winter with a view to stopping diesel bug. My thinking is with my tank a quarter full at moment its going to cost about £450 to top up , but can you get a simple polishing set up for a similar price. Or would I still have to have a full tank and a polisher to defeat the bug. Whats the best and most cost effective solution? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  23. Hi Not sure if this is a stupid question , but is it possible to adjust twin throttles so they give the same revs at equal throttle positions. Currently my left thottle runs at less revs than the right one when pushed up equally, causing the boat to gently turn to the left. I then have to adjust the left throttle until the boat runs straight. Is there adjustment somewhere so I can set the throttles level and engines will rev equally? Thx Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
