  1. I'm looking for help with a switch, hopefully I can explain it in a way you can understand.

I want to know if there is a switch that when pressed will make the circuit but when the power goes off will reset to the off position and require pressing again to make the circuit.

Does that make any sense, I hope so.

  2. I'm a horn sounder, Ludham and Wroxham both have poor visibility and a blast on the horn will let people know your coming, Wroxham especially can be a pain with day boats suddenly appearing from nowhere and forcing you to try and abort a bridge passage.

  3. Time for me to get myself in trouble again with the electrical bods.

I understand the concept of 16a rated cable carrying 32a if something goes wrong but when in Europe I plug in a table lamp with 2pin plug and no fuse? if the boat is protected with MCB's is the cable risk really that high? should there be a fault on board, the MCB's would trip, if the cable was faulty and leaking current the RCD in the post would trip.

Am I missing something or is the risk really that high.

  4. I always like to think you should not treat anyone or any animal in a way that you wouldn't treat yourself.

Some long time ago (ok I'm old) when first owning a car I was waiting for Carol with the car windows fully wound down ( pre electric windows) I lasted 5 mins before it was uncomfortable enough to make me leave the car and seek shade, it was not pleasant, though I don't know how  bad it would have got or whether death would ensue, I do know that I would not intentionally repeat the experiment and would not leave a dog in the same situation, I was able to leave when the comfort levels decreased, a dog hasn't got that luxury.

  5. 50 years ago most of the canal systems in England were dry, derelict and supported very little life. Without the need for legislation or NP status, groups of volunteers and narrow boat enthusiasts started work on restoring and bringing the canals back to life which was of benefit to narrow boaters and nature.

The broads has shown steady improvement under the BA over the last 20 years, why upset the balance now?

  6. This is nothing to do with boats or the broads but thought some might find it interesting.

I have always known that Charles Dickens used Cliffe Church/graveyard in Great Expectations, where Pip and Magwitch first met but was unaware

that the film Full Metal Jacket used Cliffe Marshes as the paddy fields shown in the film.

Sorry I'll get my coat. :shocked
