  1. Some people love to flaunt their supposedly  wealth or status  ,as seen in the  job descriptions of many now associates, partners ,executives. Etc giving. you  often no idea of what they do.? I remember a video when I did my VHF. Radio  course it showed a Mayday being received  and HIS. position being requested ,to which the boater replied " Managing Director of ????? and sons " not the spot he was at and in trouble !

  2. Enjoying your progress, love tinkering on the bench and have had plans to create the “ perfect place “ for years .i have a bench saw with dust outlet ,which I connect to a Henry vacuum but would like to make an inline trap to trap some of the sawdust  , any ideas ? Thought of  clear plastic  box. with baffles which could be easily emptied . Have an original Workmate from the sixties not used much but was a godsend in the past when I did not have any space . :default_biggrin:

  3. Took ou curtains home ( 16 on our Bounty 28  )  absolutely covered in spider spots, started thinking of replacing them ,but I tackled them with a toothbrush and then Diane soaked  them in the bath in a mixture of Arial and Ace then into the washing machine and virtually all spots gone.Since found Astonish spot treatment worked in with a brush on fixed fabric on the boat has had results . Wish we could find a good repellent?

  4. Agreed Robin.,I have found a forum may be basically fine but have a few individuals  who presume theirs is the only opinion ,but in a way that is belittling to any one who disagrees with them.I challenged one individual recently ,not heard from him since. I must add ,not here where I have been for many years and enjoy the contribution from  members many of them we have met and enjoyed their company.Sad to see a Facebook group for moaners and groups where bad language exists on a regular basis ,not for us.

  5. dnks34  thats why I posted this under a " new topic " heading this morning as I felt it was important as it raised issues that I think many people were unaware of and would be interested in ,together with the ongoing poll showing the large number of people who are obviously against the present system .it will obviously not be read by that many being on page twelve of the existing thread covering other issues.:default_blink:

  6. The rescue boats were demonstrating man overboard drills in that area on and off for most off the day .The yellow dory had a drop down bow and they were pulling bods from the river in demonstrations ,but not sure who they were ,as I could not see any markings  ? The saying " being in the right place at the right time  " was never truer than on this occasion! :default_biggrin:

  8. The problem has been around a long time.I bought a Seagull outbound from Beatles garage ,opposite the Staithe in the seventies as Mr Beale hired out dinghies with outboards on the Broad but gave up as he was constantly " rescuing " those that had stopped due to the week on prop and cooling tubes .A lovely helpful man ,used to serve petrol from a hand operated pump..As a side ,sold that engine ,still running forty years later for the same money I paid for it.:default_biggrin:

  9. Such a shame to do this at the end end of a great carnival week enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. We were there three times taking our two young grandchildren and there was a good atmosphere with no problems.Feel sorry for the businesses that have these frightening experiences.Suprisingly not one arrest has been made ,at this point ?

  10. It would appear from the article that 5 were. Taken off to transport ,but the remaining crew stayed to continue their holiday ,possibly visitors on board .but as said earlier would there have been enough lifejackets ? Glad it all ended well..Is there restrictions by the hire companies on the number of guests you can have aboard ?
