chemical content of bilge cleaner?

Hi Gang,

What chemical should I need to clean out the forward bilge? it was full of water standing for years and is smelly, I am seeking to use the chemical not a brand named version :Stinky

I tried Bilgex to start with, it's expensive and you need a lot of it. I then got some very cheap Asda washing powder (a couple of pounds for a big box) and mixed some with warm water. I left this in the bilge for a week and then pumped out. Worked a treat. Just watch where you dispose of it if you have oil in the bilges.
