Baz
Hello Jill, long time no talk eh. Anyway, I read an extract in the Express, that in the next few weeks, the UK would be in the grip of a severe wintery time, including snow and ice, wind etc. Now I don't know if this is for real, but because I have a fair distance to travel, and the wife not feeling her best, I decided to go to the boat and 'Winterise' it. I know it's early, but better to be on guard so to speak eh. As I said, this report from the Express was on 'Facebook', so, is it for real, who knows. Regards Baz
Samuel
Baz I suggest if you avoid reading the Express the future will generally appear rosier. Or are you being satirical?
jillR
hi baz nice to see you around again and yes I totally agree when you have so much (not just money) tied up in a boat then it just makes good sense to look after it. weve had some scary October/Novembers in the past and ive narrowly missed being crushed by a tree more than once not to mention being stuck between bridges on the trent with rapidly rising water level and wondering if we would have to make a run for it. etc etc. happy days a friend of mine on the Yorkshire derwent had to cut a channel back to the river to heave his 52' Sheffield barge down because the rising river had left him in a pub car park. Baz
Hiya Samuel. Sorry mate, but what I've written was as it happened, and exactly how it was printed. Whether it was a wind up or not, I can't be sure, but as far as being satirical, definately not. If I'm wrong about the weather, then I can de-winterise the boat at any time I fancy, but on the other hand, at least I'm secure in the fact that if the weather were to turn bad, I don't have to try to get to the Broads to Winterise, as it's already done, so no problems eh.
