Does anyone else on here think Timbo needs one to monitor Royal Tudors winter work ready for its launching (finally ) in the spring?

They already have a different time zone north of the border, I think it's the 17th century....

I will treat that remark with the contempt it deserves. As I said, if you wish to have no clock change then fine by me, just don't ask us to join in!

    cheersIain.

Not that I actually remember of course but I think the practice of putting the clocks forward in the UK as a daylight saving measure actually started during the Great war of 1914-18.  with double summertime, 2 hours forward,  existing during some of WW2.

However I remember clearly that in 1968 the practice stopped in the UK for 3 years as an experiment and we adopted what was known as British Standard time.

It all changed back acgain in 1971 and has continued that way since.despite regular debates on the subject.

Indeed, Arthur, caused mayhem up here, it was still dark at 10am, kids went to school in total darkness and as the winter progressed dark coming home , also. The kids wore all sorts of fluorescent safety strips, but several were injured quite badly.

As for trying to work on building sites,it was practically impossible, as Tilley lamps were few and far available, as for 240volt generators there were few about in those days, However, the biggest problem was with the farmers especially the dairy cows. So if you wish to have a different time zone from up here, fine, but sorry we require that clock change for many reasons.

I agree Monica, now if only we could get a camera back into operation at Oulton Broad.

It would pay the management at the Wherry Hotel to find an alternative supplier, being able to see if a mooring on their moorings or at the Yacht Station is a bonus for all of us Broads users.

    Regards

    Alan

Agreed, Alan, also miss seeing JM doing his saily :Sailing thingies there.:naughty:

We had Beaver Sundancer (I think it was) in 1983 - an Aquafibre 42 c/c.

I remember the Super Wings, funny looking things. Didn't Alan Johnson have some too that ended up at Ricko's, or were they the same boats?

Yes Skipper the Foleys kept two after they changed the water tanks from steel to stainless steel. I hired Shogun think it was called, a very clever passage from the saloon to the stern bedroom. The bed was very low but a very good sized shower ensuite.

Great views from the upper helm, but a nightmare from indoors, handling wise. The steps down to the saloon were steep though.

Demolish Potter Heigham old road bridge, and replace it with an ALMOST identical replica. Only the replica would have an average HIGH WATER airdraught of 7 ft 6 ins.  Then i`d dredge all the rivers, force a compulsory purchase of the ENTIRE broads river banks, then open up all the upper reaches that have been allowed to fall into disrepair. You`d be able to cruise the Waveney to Bungay, the Bure to Aylsham, and the Ant to Horsted, and you`d be able to moor anywhere. I`d also buy up ALL broads pubs, and reduce the rents to 25% of their current levels, or maybe even less. I`d also appoint Howard (Norfolk Nog) as pub superintendant to keep a check on them.

And.....when you waken up Neil, put the kettle on ! :naughty:

I am very pleased pleased to read all of your reactions on this thread. This is the sign of a solid and practical discussion forum.

When David Court was the managing director of Blakes, he often reminded us that a small business takes at least 10 years to build a good reputation - but only 10 minutes to lose it.

    Vaughan,

Dick and Gwen Sabberton were a delight to deal with there, many years ago.
