  2. Bill is a friend of mine and can confirm that he's had a few health issues.

More than that I won't say, it's for him to fill in the blanks if he so wishes.

Only a few short years ago, a nearby boatyard did consider buying one

or two to refurbish and add to their hire fleet. Sadly this never happened.

  3. All I can say on this subject is buy from someone who knows about them! EG. Brian Wards or Boulters for instance. I bought some off the interweb as they were described as 'marine'. After a few nights they started to flicker and when I took one out it was brown on the circuit board and HOT! In my view it could have caused a fire. I then went to Boulters and bought a whole new set. Cost a little more but never had a problem again. I'll post a photo later of the bulb.

  4. Hi Chris/Grounded. We will be heading to the southern broads from this

coming Friday(5th) till Friday(12th) but mostly up the Yare, so if you are

that way then we will keep an eye out for you. We will be in two private

boats, An Aquafibre Diamond 35(green&white) and an Aquafibre Pearl

38(brown&cream) so easily spotted. No NBN flags flying though.

  5. On Monday morning there was a black Audi saloon on the top of the Plumstead roundabout.

I really fail to see how they do it. I, like Griff, use the Fakenham road and the NDR when we

come down now. No problem for me driving but seeing how others drive it beggars belief!

In my view, the only way to make it safer is to change it into a 2 lane roundabout which the

majority of people are familier with. I did say The Majority!

  6. I know of two yards that will not let you hire out your own boat.

It's in the Terms and Conditions.

The Insurance would go through the roof anyway and would

you like your boat being used by, perhaps, Stag and Hen do's?

Seen that happen before with Hire Craft, even picking up extra

people down river!(Wayford and Ranworth) Big NO from us!!

  7. Having had a 950 Centre cockpit and a 950 Aft cockpit I can only say that they are well built boats. The 1070, if an Aft cockpit is what you are considering, is a real chore to get the canopy up or down for bridges and is a 2 person job. Not ideal if you want to get under a low bridge when its raining! 15-20 minute job. Even Yarmouth needs careful planning as does St Olaves. Wroxham bridge is a no-no anyway. Also don't believe the air draft quoted with everything down, 6' 8" it 'aint! On the other hand, the Centre cockpit is a lovely boat with a real air draft of 6' 8" and will pass under Wroxham etc. with ease and winding the canopy back and dropping the screen is a real breeze and can be done in 5 minutes whilst still underway by one person. They handle well too. Garry at Wroxham Marine (Sheerline) is one of the most helpful guys you would wish to meet.

If you need more info or help, please PM me.

  8. If the greaser hasn't been turned for some time, the grease already

in the pipe from the greaser can go hard and that may be your problem.

If it has gone hard, it can take some pressure to 'pump it through' and

clear it. Remove it and see if it is all clear. If there is hard grease in

it, careful use of a small drill turned by hand will remove it.

  9. Going down the Bure towards Marina Keys there are several posts

on the bends that I don't remember being there in the 60's and 70's

when I went regularly. I agree with Griff, if all that silting were

dredged then the outflow would increase and so lower the levels

at Potter etc. Arn't they dredging around Marina Keys now though?
