  1. Thanks Strow, this is all old wood thats never been painted so I think I will give it a lick of primer first!
  2. Hi all I know 650xs has said a single coat of Danboline but do I need to prime bare wood first? Ive now got a load of floor panels in the workshop ready to start on
  3. Ha ha Jill, Ive just been and recovered my teddies from the corner!
  4. Oh its the usual, fresh water collects somewhere it shouldnt, each time I think I have found the problem and fixed it, i leave the boat for a while and it returns, i am beginning to think it may be rain water but there has been times when it has gone away for long periods after I have tinkered even when its rained so im going to have to have another look. The joints are in the most awkward place possible behind the calorifier and I have to crawl over a waste tank to get to them, typical!! I have been and drained my water tank and calorifier today so I am going to go up with the karcher next wkend and suck the water out and see if it returns even with empty tanks, if not atleast I can rule out rainwater!
  5. Kfurfbank, not really sure how to help with the noisey exhaust but if you could help me with leaky plumbing!
  6. As someone else has said, there is a facebook page for the NBF. I find it insulting that this site is being used in this way. Yes we are all here for the same thing but in view of current opinion I would lock it and then leave the subject alone alltogether.
  7. Your right there Dan and Daves point is exactly "the point" here. Kfurbank if you dont agree with someones opinion, why do you feel compelled to get the knifes out and start chucking them, We will have our opinion and you have yours, it really doesnt matter does it? So stop trying to ridicule someone just because they dont follow what you believe, thats the NBF you want for things like that.
  8. Hi Kfurbank, Im sorry you feel like that but I dont see it as anyone being slagged off. I am simply voicing my perception of the NBF which I am entitled to do about any business organisation or company as I so wish. That is, if I feel something is wrong, I have recieved poor service or been unfairly treated so I dont really see where you are coming from! I have not attacked anyone personally and wouldnt do so online so "slagging off" id rather say expressing my disdain if anything.
  9. Bring it on I say, they know exactly how to make contact with me to Dave! I wonder how many of the regulars on there would use the same approach when face to face, If you wouldnt treat people with such patronising condesending and arrogant attitudes in person then dont do it while your hiding behind an internet connection...thats the rule of thumb I work by anyway. In a way I feel quite sadened for Richard that he must feel compelled to provide these members with the platform he has given them, and seemingly at great cost to him. I wouldn't be prepared to get myself in to debt to do the same thats for certain. In my opinion those people owe him a bit more than a donation, if he woke up and smelt the coffee and had mods the just moderated I would be happy to revisit the site but I think its clear that isnt going to happen so best of luck to them I say.
  10. Hi JTF, thanks for the appology, its fully accepted and I hope you accept mine for the way I reacted to your comment to. We are all here for the same thing so lets enjoy it and leave the broads gestapo to do what the do best over there on the NBF, without me and Dave obviously!
  11. Thats good thanks for that Strow, i recently made a nice battery box from 1/2 inch ply to replace an awful plastic one and this Danboline probably would have been a better paint to use on that. If only Id asked sooner!
  12. Hi Dave, I can totally see exactly where you are coming from. The mods on there are to involved with certain members and not impartial or fair in how they deal with things. Im not sure how it works over here but over there some mods should stick to moding and stay out of posting alltogether, that is just my opinion. I might even say the poor attitude from some is encouraged and some of the regulars do go on like the Broads belongs to them. There was 1 or 2 on there I knew personally and respected but not anymore! I have stopped visiting the site also because the knowledge that I could be surrounded by such egotiscal people while I am on my boat would probably lead me to sell it and find another hobby. It is a farce , I have been spoken to appaulingly by 1 mod imparticular, the broads is a small enough place to not never run in to these people in person and that one person will be getting the sharp end of my tongue if and when our paths cross! The funniest thing in my opinion is how many of the people who seem to know anything and everything about the area actually live here!! 1 post inparticular that stick in my mind was Gcantley telling someone to be quiet and he did not expect to see this person say anything like that again or words to that effect. The point is he spoke to the person like they were something he had stepped in.
  13. Ordered some Danboline in grey off ebay, this stuff does go on to plywood to doesn't it!! It was £20 for 750ml so it best be the real mcoy!!
  14. I think a site should be judged by how many members actually log in more than once, or weekly. As dave says probably nearer 8 thousand of those members might have visited once said or asked what they wanted and forgot all about the site. Have to say I agree with you Dave. I heard sheep noises eminating from my speakers each time I visited the site!. Maybe I just have a faulty sound card! But each to there own and it is still a wealth of information.
  15. When we bought our first boat and being a bit wet behind the ears I used Norfolk Marine an awful lot as it was convenient at the time and they stocked pretty much everything I needed. I never had bad service even from the guy you are talking about and I do know who you mean, i find people like that a challenge and I make an extra effort. He was always very helpful toward me. Some of the other staff got that used to seeing me they would often ask where I had been if I hadnt been in for a few days so overall I really cant fault them. We even bought a new mercury outboard from them for our dinghy and they were happy to throw a few things in with the price. Now on our second boat and being a bit more clued up on the local suppliers, I use boulters, aquafax, ASAP and brianwards whom are all great and better priced which is always better! But I am still happy to go to Norfolk Marine if the need ever arises.
  16. 2 pack....does that require mixing? Recipe for disaster with me!! Im fine aslong as all it involves is opening the lid and dipping the brush in!
  17. Loads on ebay! Norfolk Marine & Jeckells to but pricey!
  18. All seems exceptionally complex to me! Would it not have been possible to archive say the first 5 years of info on a seperare hosted server to make things a bit more managable size wise, would that have helped him carry on using his own hardware?
  19. I have actually been looking at the Danboline stuff on ebay before I just read the lastest post! Looks like good stuff and reasonably priced to! Will definately give that a try! Thanks All
  20. Its not meant in a threatening way. I dont like to see people telling others to keep their views to themselves and Im not getting into a public debate about it, hence the PM. If you dont like what you read then dont read it or comment on it. Its not your place to tell anyone to keep quiet is it JTF? If you dont want people to come back at you when you have told them to shut up , dont put yourself in that position to begin with!
  21. Why do some people become so defensive when someone dares to criticise the NBF? The fact that its meant to be free doesnt mean anything. If the NBF took some notice of atleast some of the criticism aired about it and maybe did something about it, it may well return to being the useful resource it once was.
  22. Thanks very much for the helpful advice as always!!
