How would you be all inclusive in this "democracy"
Anglers, for example, would have a right to elect their representative. The present system of 'approved' yes people being 'placed' onto committees has to stop.

Personally I would follow the government advice, not some incorrect rehash of it. The Government is dropping the stay local message in favour of other messaging such as minimise travel, so why is the BA still persisting with it in contradiction to the Government?
The BA, in its present guise, has a history of contradiction in regard to the government, witness its NP campaign. As for rehashing information, once again there is history. Half truths and misleading statements are something of a specialty. I take it that you have read all the squit that came with this year's toll demand? Perhaps worthy of a thread of its own.

Lovely thought Peter but just who are the "stake holders"?
You and I, amongst many others!

It's a thought, Chris, but I am not convinced. At the moment there really is nothing notably 'new' about the Authority. Dr Packman will eventually retire, even if he is finally carried out in a box! Hopefully a new broom will then make a clean sweep, then perhaps we will see a 'new' Broads Authority, one that incorporates the best of the old whilst returning control of the Broads to its members and introduces some form of democracy for its stakeholders.

In my opinion, not to pay is an act of shall I say mild vindictiveness. The amount of interest I would earn on the sum is minimal so there is little or no advantage to me in withholding payment for 30 days.
It's a long established tradition along the rhond!

So when the mist clears, anyone with a long lens in the marshes can see straight into your bedroom! I wonder what wildlife they would see?
We're no fools, we have curtains!

does a pair of stockings count as a face covering?
Or even a pair of tights, preferably washed or new?

Strangely enough I thought I head one yesterday! Naa, unlikely, late April, early May more like!
By the way, MM, I live opposite Carlton Marshes, lucky me. From my bedroom I look down on the reserve, excellent vantage point, when there is no mist like what there is right now!

and then the full annual toll was due for those vessels afloat
My understanding that the toll was only payable on boats that went out on hire. Hire boats, as opposed to private ones, that were stored afloat were not required to be tolled.

Hopefully nothing too kinky!

As to the experience of the helm is somewhat debatable.
Apart from the Breakaway 5 tragedy I don't recollect anything major with Broads dayboats so something must be right, apart from the annoyance factor!

'Elsewhere' it's being called BnA, I believe it means broads no authority due to some of the advice given that it has no place or authority to give.
Thanks for putting me right on that one. I don't see the BA using the N in that context, as apt as it might be.
-
I have noticed elsewhere that the BA is fondly referred to as the NBA and has been for quite a while. Doesn't tell me why though!
Since I refuse point blank to pay my toll until at least five minutes before I cast off for the new season means that I haven't seen the N added to BA. My only recent correspondence has been with the planning department and perhaps the 'New' hasn't permeated that particular office yet.

I can’t imagine how challenging it would be to take a baby along for the sail.
What challenge? My first memory of life is of being lodged amongst the sail bags, fenders and ropes in the forepeak so I could roll around without hurting myself!

I love sailing. Not sure how the wife and toddler would feel about the small living conditions!
I've always found that toddlers enjoy it, I certainly did!

Mind you, there’s sailing involved.
What some might consider to be a real Broads holiday!

I can't think I have ever been in the Flying Dutchman which is an embarrassing admission. Might try and put that right this summer, drop the missus and the kids in the park for a couple of hours and wander down.
In the past it's been good for gigs too, Murphy's Lore for example.
Wander down, stagger back!

I see what you mean. Richardsons prices look obscene.
Maybe they are taking a leaf out of the double glazing industry's methodology handbook, namely double/treble the prices before offering unbelievable discounts but only if you sign up there and then!

Probably going off topic here but didn't that survive the divorce and is still a Green Jack pub JM??
Still Green Jack, thankfully. That divorce has a lot to answer for!

The Mariner's Rest in the same vicinity is in much the same mould, hope that's OK
One of my daughters drinks there but it's never appealed to me. The Flying Dutchman & The Triangle for me, thankfully both seem to be keeping their heads above water.

They are! Just that they go to great lengths to hide the fact! Jayfire allegedly relies on Viagra washed down with a half pint of lager-shandy and has porridge for his morning oats!
