    I just scanned it..

OK folks watch out for all the speeding day, boats they're allowed out again..

I don't think they are, I caused this (seemingly heated) conversation, by wondering if they would try and come under the banner of "Outdoor Attraction"...

We are talking of hire boats not Private Boats, therefore not hire cars.. I don't know if Hire cars are yet available, but the hire car yard nearest work appears to be still closed..

I was thinking more along the lines that you can now drive your car through a Zoo/Safari park, or to an outdoor cinema...

The day boats could be cleaned after use.

  3. I am pondering, day boat hire could well be classified as an Outdoor Attraction, so now allowed to open?

I imagine there is some frantic scrabbling going on behind the scenes. With many businesses now trying to figure out if they can fit under that banner...

  4. having listened to the speech i was under the impression both households had to be a single adult

    I did too!

But CambridgeCabby and the BBC website, and made it clearer.

  5. One of the households has to be either a single adult or a single parent with young children the other household strictly speaking has no number limit so if hubby wife both their parents and ten kids live in one household then no problem with them all visiting .
you cannot switch between households though , the household you join with means they become for all intent and purposes an extension of your household and you may not bring further households into it.
Surprisingly they have stated that they will not be policing this and will rely on individuals honesty , haven’t they seen the beaches etc lately ?

Ahh so the second household can be of any size, got it!

Looking at HW just a moment ago I see there is activity in the marina.  Looks as if they are charging up the boats.  Well that is my take on it.     :default_stinky:

This morning they updated their Facebook page with this:

"We're still finding plenty to do here on the boatyard!

Picnic boats and day boats are being worked on and going through our maintenance programme and we've had brand new key heading fitted in our day hire section.

All we need now are our customers!"

  7. Absolutely right that is all speculation, but I was just interested to see how others were interpreting the situation.

From what I can make out, it seems possible that we are on track for the 4th July like campsites, but others  feel it's unlikely until much later.

I am alway amazed by how may different interpretations, you can get on the same thing. We can all learn or find interest, from listening to others viewpoints, any forum is full of speculation.

The Yachter Charter companies down here on the South Coast, certainly seem to have their hopes pinned on the 4th.

  8. I think your right, hospitality being given the green light would probably come from Borris himself.

The Broads Authority (and Barnes Brinkcraft) seem to be expecting some kind of announcement this week.

  9. We are meant to be out from the 4th July. This was changed from the 26th May.  Who knows!

The boatyard seemed to think it might possible, and they were busy making sure they are ready to do so, if given the go ahead. This seems to be mirrored by the other big yards...

(I understand it will be difficult for the smaller yards).

Quite a few of the yards websites say they are taking bookings "From 4th July". As are place like centre parcs and campsites.

The government announced they aimed to open up tourism from the 4th of July, if the R rate stays bellow 1. Last week they confirmed they were still aiming for it, and were keen to support domestic tourism.

I am interested to hear more, why people feel this isn't possible (for the big yards)...

  10. Marsh man...

“And sorry Bexs, "your" beaches belong to everyone, just as the hills in the Lake District and the Peak District belong to us all, and used also by people from Dorset! Like the people of Southwold who want the money, but not the people; you cannot have it both ways!”

I said “OURS” not mine... 🤦🏻‍♀️

I loved that photo of crowded beaches the other day purporting to be in the UK - it wasn't it was somewhere abroad ( I forget exactly where! )

It perhaps proves the point that we hear, and see, just what we want to!

Living in Dorset I can absolutely confirm, that many of the photos in the press of our beautiful beaches were unfortunatly very, very  real!

It was an utter nightmare down here last week, every man and his aunt seemed to descend upon Sandbanks and Bournemouth beaches. The crowing was bonkers! Never see anything like it before.

  12. Horning cars were fabulous at running us and the kids backwards and forward between the boat and Bewilderwood last October. Really lovely lady. Highly recommend them.

  13. My dad has just been on the phone complaining that he has had 3 calls this morning from a company trying to sell him a way to block unwanted calls.

On the 3rd call dad pointed out that THEY were them selfs an in wanted call... they call him a name comprising of two swear words and hung up on him.

  14. Although my old Mum of 96 has now passed, in her latter years , bless her she would have fell foul of these buggers.   She never had a mobile phone or anything like it but would unfortunately have told the world all of her and everyone in the family's personal business without a thought.     What they do is wicked.

Yes my Dad who’s 89 and just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s would fall for anything.

I live in fear of bogus callers.

One saving grace is he doesn’t have the internet or a computer.

  15. These types of articles with daft ‘Berlin Wall’ comments, always make me shudder at the lack of intelligent thought people use.

You wouldn’t think it possible would you?

  16. As far as the Broads is concerned the Merlin Rocket, for example, is now as rare as Dodo poo so there is a warning there!

Yes the same down here, a few stalwarts but the expensive has lead to their demise.

Everyone at my club favours RS 200/400 type of class.

  17. It is interesting to hear the same types of discussion on class rules being debated here about the RCC as you do in any development class ie Merlin rockets/ National 12.

However it seems that they have allowed the class to thrive, where as a lot of the development class’s of dinghy have lost favour to One Designs as people feel they promote fairer and closer racing...

I am used to racing on the south coast where big boats, with big rigs and a large crew and massive budgets are the norm. But seeing the large masted RCC when I visit the broads always takes my breath away.

I think the massive amount of canvass up, verses the low freeboard fills me with total admiration and terror!!!
