  1. Considering motorcyclists are one of most vulnerable road users and stats show that most right handed people who use a mobile whilst driving will use it in their right hand to allow them to change gear I'm amazed that could be considered as causing another road user no problems, oh I suppose until they pull out of a junction into the path of said motorcycle or cycle , I ride motorbikes and I cycle to work illuminated like a mobile Christmas tree and when people pull out in front of me I am more than happy to discuss their parentage at the road side , Like most things the technology of vehicles safety systems has evolved considerably the fact that seat belts now have pre tensioners to pull the occupants back into the seat as the airbags have deployed is because if not the air bags will cause injury , hence the reason to be able to disable them if child car seats are being used in the front seat , one of the first things we have to do at a rtc is fit air bag covers because if due to the impact directions they haven't deployed they will more than likely remodel your face if they go off whilst you are in the vicinity, fact not opinion !
  2. Speed triple wrote accidents WILL always happen , actually they don't RTC, s will always happen( road traffic collision , )collision meaning someone is always at fault whether the act thats caused the collision was accidental or through neglect , the emergency services dropped RTA a long time ago , As for wearing seat belts sometimes laws help protect the younger and not so wise , the OLDER and still no wiser if they want a face full of steering wheel happy days just don't scream whilst we cutt you out, a dashboard lift takes longer if ya mush is embedded in it , shame to ruin a young persons face though through not being a bit more savvy
  3. Hi guys , just a heads up on this topic especially this time of year ,,, there is a scam going on that the royal mail have confirmed which involves a card posted through your door saying that a parcel was tried to be delivered ! Please phone this number starting 0906 which is premium rate costing a minimum of £350.00 pounds just to listen to the recorded message , this scam started in Belize , stay vigilant ,, sean
  4. I do hope I don't get a slap off the mods for creating a unruly ,, culture:)
  5. Unfortunately unlike Ff yogurt , we have to be clean shaven to allow our breathing apparatus to seal to our little chubby chops ,, sorry ; ( ,, but if Ff yoghurt did join the fireservice we would have lots of fun lookin for a obscure nick name ,, culture, , bacteria, , rotten milk to think of few im sure there is more ?
  6. Forgot to add daisy is from Boston in Lincolnshire
  7. Awwwe how lovely they both look ,, hopefully one of she who must be obeyed
  8. Thank you for your kind comments , it is a very rewarding job but we are just one agency who set out to help people and education is the best safeguard for anyone, social workers have a awful task of safeguarding vulnerable people and supporting those vulnerable people in the community rather than people being kept behind some institutions doors ,, I was told recently that a social worker who has just graduated can expect to have seven years front line social work before being burnt out because of the stress and anxiety related to their role ,,, On lighter note yea fire kit seems to beat any other uniform when we attend incidents with police they are normally very smart with nice shirts ties etc , we turn up in fire kit and big boots and somehow have the lynx effect , eh oh pressure of the job we have to put up with
  9. As I'm on duty ill keep this response to minimum,, the tragic events you refer to are a reminder to everyone to take the opportunity to have your local firefighters visit you at home at your convenience to discuss the firesafety plans which will cover safe egress from a property keys night time routines etc .. as well as any particular unique concerns you may have its free and should you need a smoke alarm will be fitted as well also hearing impaired alarms are available .. I'm not going to go into teaching people to suck eggs there are many alternatives to safe guarding particular rooms without using the same keyring as the one with front door key .... a valid point though always make sure If you need a key to evacuate it is readily available and everyone in the property knows where it is its all part of the night time routine your local FF.s will be happy to discuss, also any particular concerns you may have ... good job I'm on duty otherwise I'd ask for overtime;)
  10. Not a personal opinion, ,, from a fire sevice point of view the a lock would be better placed on the kitchen door likewise anywhere else where danger is likely to become a unsupervised child
  11. Hi everyone , some of you would of read my first post last night when I was giving a opinion on another thread , probably not the best way to make friends and ease myself into a forum but hopefully my points were taken in the manner in which I hoped ,, Anyway back to me, my wife and myself first holidayed on the broads in 1992 at the tender ages of 27&28 on Crown jem from richardsons our first night moored on the river ant just below irstead on the right wild moorings which are now overgrown , is without doubt in printed in my memory as the best night on holiday anywhere the sense of freedom was both magical and exiting ,, we then continued to holiday sometimes twice a year for the next 15yrs or so last time a couple of years back , with our third dog to enjoy the broads, daisy the beagle , I have been a member on another welll known broads forum but never posted on open forum as I found it rather aggressive so thank you for your welcoming comments last night even though you hadn't met me before so to speak ,, sean
  12. Oh dear what a way to have to say hello , but sometimes politeness has to take second place ! The original poster raised a question for advice personally in my opinion not the right place (obviously by some of the put downs) child welfare or anyone else in the community who could be classed as vulnerable elderly, less abled, limited learning etc ,, needs to have the support of everyone ,, personal relationships etc can have a bearing on how you can raise concerns and solve them sometimes people look for a solution to a domestic issue innocently and arrive at a completely wrong answer ,,,, house fires are not like coronation st ,eastenders or any other tv programme ,, you can expect at best 1 min of lung function ,absolute zero vision , and thats if the fire affected floor is downstairs , if you have a spare window have go out breaking double glazing with a chair or expect a child trapped in bedroom to be able to do it !,, how do I know ? Because I have seen the devastation and loss of life house fires bring , if you are unsure take advice from your local fire station gain facts not hear say and act upon them to the right agency's , turning out to a house fire with distraught people screaming their dog is trapped is awful ,, hope I never go to one when we are told a child or other vulnerable person is trapped in a room by the very person who has evacuated! !! Rant over Ff Richards ,, vpo Vulnerable persons officer
