everyone.
If you see me moored by one please don't ask me to move along.
I know a lot of people do still moor over them if that's the only space that's left though.
Please please please do NOT obstruct these safety ladders.
People fall into to the rivers and occassionally drown, particularly if they can't scramble up a bank aka Norwich.
If you are unfortunate enough to know the family of a victim you will know how devasting it can be ...... these ladders can save that happening to somebody else.
Edited to offer appology to baitrunner,
I just re read your post and realise I have misinterpreted your post. I am sorry for the implied slur.

Why don't we just keep last years cards in a box and put them on display next Christmas ..... like Christmas trees .... and Christmas cake ..... and dates (uggggg don't you just hate the oval box of dates surfacing on chrissie day) .....
o yes and all the old, overly sentimental televisual garbage that gets regugitated for our entertainment.
Happy christmas everyone ......

Wow that's hot ..... hottest hols I had was in Turkey when temp often reached 40. With no air conditioning in the hotel I dreamed of sitting in a fridge.
These days I prefer no hotter than 28.23 degrees and no colder than 17.62 ....... so living in Norwich I am usually dissapointed.

The problem is your judging peoples attitude as a late comer looking for space .........
The first person to arrive might choose to park in the middle.
The next person not wishing to encroach on the privacy of the first boat might choose to park in the middle of one of the remaining spaces.
This goes on until the remaining gaps become unusable.
So is it fair to brand people as selfish when they might infact be trying to do the opposite?
Just my thoughts ..... probably wrong ..... but hey ho.

Now he's a thought ......
What if the dinasours evolved to be really intelligent ..... they kicked about for a long time you know. I know it was before evolution was invented by the famous Aussie Darwin, but you never know they might have invented evolution first.
Anyway, I digress. Perhaps they knew a bloomin big astoroid was going to collide with earth so they hopped onto their spacecraft and headed for an alternate, dinosour friendly planet.
After a gizzilion million years had passed they might have thought ..... "Let's go and see what happened to old stomping grounds" now who'd have thought that would be Lowestoft?

A pleasing tale ...... sadly some folks forget the larks they got up to in younger days and delight in moaning about the larks the new generation engage in.
Now did they wear lifejackets ...... did they navigate while drinking/drunk ....... did they speed (were there speed limits?) .... did they display the appropriate navigation lights ,,,,,,,, did they create excessive noise ...... did they play loud music ........ thinking about it it's surprising you survived
Te hee hee JennyMorgan playing pirates .... who'd have thought eh.

Mark, I know who those boots belong to, they are Smelly's. What happened was, he happened to be on one of his drunken cruises on his boat when he stripped down to his thong and threw his boots up in the air where upon they landed on that post, how the beer can got there is any ones guess

p.s For Smelly
Awww Gracie ....... you said that would be our little secret :kiss

Whilst dining with Gracie captain Orca listened attentively as Gracie boasted of her navigation prowess on the narrow Chet. Thinking he might be able to impress further he invited Gracie onto the bridge to tinker with his knobs.
He realised, too late, that he might have made a mistake mentioning that a container of designer Italian shoes had been washed up on the nearby island!!

You take some great photos Jill ....... keep on posting, it's like you take us with you on your little expeditions.

I know it seems everybodies goal to travel every inch of Broadlands rivers but it really is better to discover this part of Norwich on foot, as mentioned above.
So much to see and when weary so many places to eat & drink.

That's certainly the legal standing Lou, but surely there is a moral issue here too, especially given the nature of both the charity and the doners wishes.
The RSPB is hardly "cash strapped"
Yes, that's my dilema moggy, I guess it is dependant on the individual case.
If the gift falls within an organisations parameters for stewardship then I guess the owners wish could be accommodated, but for how long?
On the other hand if the gift is perceived uneconomic to maintain then the prudent thing would be to sell, particularly , as in this case, it has considerable value.
-
Ummm ..... not sure were I stand on this one.
You see when you die you cease ownership of things.
You can will them to whoever, by all means state your wishes, but ultimately that thing now belongs to the person to whom you gifted it.
That person should then be free to do with the thing what they will and not be obligated to maintain it as it was at the point of their death.
In the RSPB case the fact that they could sell a parcel of land for a considerable sum should enable them to protect many more bird habitats than the original plot.
Nobody, even the very wealthy, don't really own the land they merely have temporary residency.

Is it best to go nuddy when the bod is at it's peak or when you don't care what people think?
There could only be one person who would raise this topic .... but it raised a bit of interest from old Smelly!!

I'm probably being naive but I always assumed that as the broadland rivers were traditionaly trading routes that navigation rights had to be maintained?
Even the rail companies have to acknowledge this with their swing bridges .... when they work that is.
I guess that's why the Sandford principle can't apply here.

I think the most important thing with awards is to be transparent regarding the number of votes cast in each category.
I couldn't see any stats on the site but I confess I only gave it a cursory glance.

JM Thanks for posting that .... always good to see how some see the future.

Hi FishFinder
You have done a superb job on the day boat renovation
However ... having visited your webpage and me being a numpty ..... I feel the before / after day boat slideshow can be misinterpreted. I could easily have left your site assuming the before image was the boat for hire.
Far better to show off the finished product first and may be offer a link to the renovation slideshow after the introductory text.

As a Norwich resident I welcome the by-pass. It should provide better access to Norwich Airport which in turn will hopefully extend the services they run. Then maybe I won't have to endure the drive to Stansted airport for a weekend break.
Of course if I still have to go to stansted airport the improved road around Norwich should help cut the travelling time (20 - 30 minutes to cross the city at busy times ..... any time during the day actually).
So as an East anglian born person I can assure you I do not want our counties treated as some quaint old theme park .....
I will not wear a smock and have a straw sticking out of my mouth just to please the holiday makers!!! I happen to find that sort of attire very comfortable .... especially in hot weather ..... which we get a lot of here.
Oh yes ...... I also like crunching carrots

I remember anti fouling my boat in March in teeshirt & shorts ..... no i'm not a posty!!

I won't get involved in the National Park debate as there are far two many complicated words and phrases for me to comprehend however ......
It seems to me that all this cuffuffle started when it became obligatory for all children to be educated to degree level.
To accommodate this many "new" degree courses were created mostly ending in "isms".
This led to armies of "qualified" graduates with "ism" degrees seeking employment and many found their way to careers in conservation and as planning gurus.
So surprise surprise (sorry Cilla) we have beurocratic edifices whose sole intention seems to be to create jobs for more "ism" graduates.
Would that we could go back to a time when people actually had useful jobs, then we could go about our lives not caring about what people called things and when the term park meant a place for people to enjoy and play.

I've been very fortunate when I have had to replace my lap dancer and gone straight into win 98, xp & windows 7.
A friend of mine had to endure 95, me & vista.
I'm thinking I might upgrade to 10 as all the feedback seems to confirm it's what windows 8 was meant to be.
We shall see .....
On the other hand I might just do the easy thing ..... nothing.

Being friendly does not come natural to us country folk.
I remember talking to a friend in Beccles and they were bemoaning that somebody they had known for years snubbed them in the street .... walked past .... not even a glance (Miserable git no 1).
I asked if he had acknowledged Miserable git no 1 and he replied .... certainly not ..... i'm not talking to somebody who ignores me (miserable git no 2)

Thanks for sharing this I had no idea this was happening.
Could be a bit of a faff if hiring a car abroad on the spur of the moment as you would need online access to get the share code ..... but then I guess the hire company would give you access to a computer.
What has happened to the so called Summer.

I know what you mean but you not worry
Soon we'll all be moaning about the heat and lack of rain for the gardens ...................
Well I can live in hope!!
