  1. Hi Does anyone know if fitting an lpg detector is a requirement for the boat safety certificate.?Ours is due soon and the first one that we have had to do. Many Thanks
  2. We us an old sat nav . The speed is pretty accurate which is really all that we need and we switch off the irritating voice!
  3. How true about the overuse of the throttle. We were moored at Stokesby, no one else there when a Richardsons boat attempts to moor next to us. Why he didn't use the the rest of the moorings is difficult to fathom. However, he was coming in so fast that we got on deck expecting the worse. For some reason somebody shouted to the helmsman to reverse which he did at alarming speed. Crunch! Thankfully we managed to fend him off but did some damage to his rubber fender strips. If only he had slowed down he would have got in fine , Some people think that they drive like cars and that the only way to get out of a spot is to give it some welly! May be the yards should tell them Slowly does it.
  4. Now how did you know that ?Pretty good really pleased. We wanted the stanchions to be replaced but the side access would have been difficult. Last year there was some damage to the pulpit rails whilst in the wetshed and although Marineweld did a repair it really needed a proper job so they suggested extending them. They don't look so much of second thought now.
  5. Hi Iain Just got back from Norfolk. Torrential rain on the way back! Don't you just love the A47 and A17? We are in Scartho, if you are too now that would be a coincidence. We went to Egypt one year only to find our next door neighbours in the next room , an old hospital colleague and his wife, who happened to be my son's hairdresser in the same block, and a couple from the same street in the block opposite. Such a small world. We will keep an eye out for you. We always fly the Lincolnshire flag. Kind Regards
  6. Hi Speedtriple We are about 20 miles from Horncastle it is a really nice country town. In fact my daughter works there as a publisher. The Lincolnshire Wolds are really pretty with nice villages. I wouldn't recommend that you visit the see side resorts, they are a touch tacky. If you are thinking about going out and about Lincoln is really good. Really nice little shops and restaurants, and the cathedral, A really good Italian on Bailgate. The new refurbished castle museum is excellent with a dedicated part for the Magna Carta. If you do go, punch in Bailgate into your sat nav and there is a car park near the cathedral. If you go right into Lincoln centre you will have to climb steep hill, fine if you are very fit! Hope you enjoy it. We are in Norfolk then. Anything else you want to know let me know. Regards
  7. Hi Alan Have sent money via your link as suggested . If you don't receive it could you let me know? I have to say I am quite taken with the lovely welcome that we have received.. Thankyou

  11. Hi Where is the shop?. If it's blue and white I am sure a burgee will indeed enhance it's looks.
  12. Hi Thanks again for the welcome. What mechanism do you use to subscribe to the forum please? Couldn't seem to find anything. Regards Pauline
  13. Hi Everybody Thanks for the welcome. We live in North East Lincolnshire. I am a retired NHS manager, but I am married to a bit of a toy boy he is still working! First time on the Broads for me was 1963 whilst still at school on Brooms Admiral Seven. Keith and I hired for years from Horizon Craft until we took the plunge. We have an Ocean 30 which is a little different from Broads Oceans as it was built for the private market and never hired. We have had it for 3 years thrown a shed load of cash at it, just about coming to the end thank heavens, but there you go that's boating. Love the Broads never want to go home. The boat is called Ocean Dawn give us a wave.We are moored in Richardsons wet shed.
  14. Hi We are not new to the broads but relatively new to boat ownership what a massive learning curve this has been! Looking forward to haring experiences. Regards to you all Pauline and Keith
