  1. Somewhat after Glenn Miller died 1944 and rock follies was 1976.

I've got GMs complete works... Boy did he produce a lot of rubbish, luckily it's just the few good ones everyone remembers..

    As for Rock Follies,

Rula Lenska was famous for being famous..

Charlotte Cornwell, was a good jobbing actress sadly no longer with us.

Julie Covington of course, went on to be lead singer on the Evita Album, and then shot herself in the foot by turning down the stage role, as her left wing views, meant she didn't want to be famous..

I was treated to the sight of quite a number of classic looking yachts of the same style ( sorry no idea of class ) returning up the Yare towards Norwich last week.

That's a member of the Broads River Cruiser Class, https://rivercruiser.org/ there's now over 400 of them. Very few Identical outside of the Hunter fleet..

Most have individual Handicaps for each boat.

Hi, I used to do sailing on the Broads. but I first learned sailing at a Sailing school at Rocky Point in Poole Dorset. on a Wayfarer sailing dinghy that was in my Twenties now 70 years old this year, I wish I was young too do it again or go with a group to do this sailing once more.

Ah Rockley Point, been there on holiday, got my hand badly cut on glass in the sand.. (in the sea, hurt somewhat that did...) That was just 53 years ago..

Wish I'd learnt to sail then rather than 10 years later..

  4.  The best sailing, is a personal choice, if racing I love Horning based sailing,  https://www.horning-sailing.club/ we race round the buoys outside the club or up on Black Horse Broad weed permitting, and like yesterday, we also do down rivers to Thurne or Acle  have lunch and race back.

I also love sailing quietly, say above Potter Bridge out onto Hickling Broad or out to Horsey..

If you wish to sail a lot, and have your own boat, then I'd recommend joining a club.. Most do not insist on you racing, though that is their primary aim..

That also gives you the use of cheaper moorings, free parking, showers, toilets and at many clubs, water for tank top ups . There is also the benefit of club social evens to join in as well should you so wish.

    if you click on, http://www.thegreenbook.org.uk/

and then click on, clubs and classes there is a list of all associations accredited with the Norfolk and Suffolk Boating association (it includes Motorboat clubs).

Hire , as Marshman says all yards are on the northern Broads, you could take a boat down to the southern broads if the yard permits.

Most of the yards hire Halfdeckers for day sailing, as well as broads cruisers for stay aboard sailing...

  5. Just the Norwich side of the Green Man on the Wroxham road, there is a large puddle... and it's not come from the sky... expect road works soon..

Tescos petrol station Stalham appears to be open, I went past this morning it was all lit up, and all the barriers were down.

  6. Lot of rain over night but it appears to have finished earlier than expected, which is good for today.

    My day yesterday,

First race went extremely well , an average start, but I kept up with the fleet, despite being the slowest handicap boat. At one point BM was ahead of a 8% faster boat.

BM mixing it with the big boys,

End of race one I had a day boat try overtake me on the left. As I crossed the finish line, it tried to turn right to go round the Swan in corner. Unfortunately it hadn't actually passed me at that point so there was a coming together. I saw the same day boat on the way back during the second race cause absolute chose trying to weave its way through the fleet..

Race two thought I was keeping out of every ones way at the start, two boats were over. The others got in a mess and suddenly I was in first place, didn't last long but it took a lap and a half for every one to get past. Then the wind died, and with a strong tide against us we drifted back wards for a couple of tacks before wind resumed if some what lightly, was well behind everyone at the end..

a day boat where it shouldn't be, in the middle of the river during the Rebel Keel boat start.

  7. Ok folks there has been an amber warning put out for road traffic this weekend,

So I'm putting out an amber warning for river traffic on the River Bure in Horning / Hoveton from tomorrow Saturday. Hoveton? Yep once we are past the dyke into Black Horse broad we are sailing in the waters of the parish of Hoveton.

Yep Horning Regatta starts tomorrow, I'll be dropping the keep right buoy in the water between the Swan Inn and the parish staithe. Repaired for the second year running having been run over again.

    First boats out 14:00 Saturday,

The forecast for the first few days of the regatta are light winds with heavy rain on Sunday. This combined with spring tides means sailing will be a struggle , boats will not be moving fast, and there's not a lot we can do about that..

Apologies for getting in your way..

Cash only- someone is not declaring it :default_shocked1animated:

More like card machines won't work there reliably, it's low probably no signal half the time, and you'd have to pay for phone charges to use one..

  9. Typical Scottish house, pebble dash...

Sailing today a bit too windy, not many about at Horning some because of the wind, some up at Wroxham for the start of their regatta.

Liz did some rallying up a dyke.

Saw Pipedreams go past, then shortly after had a passing word with Broad Ambition.

Didn't do too well at the sailing, weed, the mainsail slipped, a bit to much wind for BM.
