I will hazard a guess that is on the Thurne between Potter and Womack Dyke. Looks like the old wind pump on Ludham marshes and the boat in the distance maybe be turning into Womack Dyke. Or there again it might be somewhere totally different. ☺

    Nope!!!

Here you go. We've found them very good but like most Broads taxis they only have a couple of drivers so it's well worth booking early if you can. We've used them many times and been very happy.

Many Thanks, now stored in my phone .

I must confess to my shame I seem to have overlooked this thread, probably because it was titled private boaters but I guess the same applies to all really.

I must say that I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed by the OP.

Certainly as far as drinks are concerned we use 99% local pubs. Never have any alcohol on the boat (well possibly the odd bottle of Humpty Dumpty) :-)  . We use local shops as far as possible, don’t bring food with us and use local taxis too – mainly Wendy at Horning Cars and Our Hire at Acle.

I can appreciate some have concerns about prices in some establishments. Certainly up here in the land of the flat caps and ferrets everything is generally a bit cheaper. But I take the view if I’m on holiday I’m not going to worry about beer or other things costing a little bit more – the Norfolk Broads experience is priceless! (IMHO of course) cheersbar

Oh.......have you got the number for the Acle taxi company you use?

Will be very useful when going to Pedro's or the Acle Bridge Inn from our boat at Acle Marina. Rather dodgy when leaving the car when wanting a few drinks and not getting splattered walking back down the road in the dark to the Marina cheers

Hi everyone. Wishing you a lovely season of boating and if the weather continues like this, we are in for a good one.

Can I just make a little plea - small business like ours spend all winter getting our shops at lovely mooring spots ready for the season. I know you come all armed and ready with your picnics and Pimms (beer & wine etc....I know you lot!), but can you call in to the local shops to have a look around and say hello, and may be buy at least an ice cream to support local businesses? Think of all those lovely places, like Womack and Ranworth. Please remember us!

Look forward to seeing you all soon!

Don't worry......Some of us private owners love to sample the local delights on offer:bow

Been there done that but out of Brightlingsea in the past, on a trawler and also aboard a big Bayliner Gin Palace. But I still think the best view is off the Greensward, or even better from the old coast guard Tower, on top of the martello tower.

Too many people for me lol!!!

Remember the first one like it was yesterday rather than 1988 ? to get the correct date if it wasn't, I'd need to ask my daughters best mate from school as she is one of the organisers. ...... But yes its a good 2 day show for sure. I'm sure its Thursday/Friday as its bank holiday weekend, and in theory the town is jam packed, so the extra coming to the airshow would more than over fill it.  Throw a sicky cool cat its well worth it. Timbo you must know the routine as well as they do then ,,,,,:hardhat:

    I only wish I could..........:shocked

I'm kind of hoping when we get our next boat it will be suitable for coastal work and I'll take it out at Yarmouth and navigate down here and drop anchor near the pier when the Airshow is on:Stinky

That will be a few years off though before that can happen.

Ahhh, a kindred spirit. Does Riverlight go under Potter Heigham?

I'm pretty sure even with the canopy and screens down, a full tank of fuel, water and maximum persons on board......on a very low tide.................. we would still be getting jammedrofl
