Though the idea of spending the night like that does seem a bit scary, especially as we aren't going to have a dinghy with us.
Once you've done it a couple of times you'll wonder why you were ever worried!

Apologies if this has already been posted but haven't seen it anywhere.

You can buy night lights that insert into the top of your float, normally bright green ones, non fisher folk may think I need to get out more when I say this but it's so exciting watching that little light disappear under the water when you get a bite
I used to love night fishing more than the day fishing for that reason .... Maybe I need to get a life too lol

In answer to the OP, Coltishall Lock is a very peaceful mooring as is Cockshoot Broad.
I agree with Gracie re the other side of Wayford Bridge although there is a cost for mooring there. Think it was £8 last time we were there.
To be fair, there aren't many places I don't like but the wild moorings are the best ones overnight for me.

We had Bittern the weekend before last. Managed to get to West Somerton. Moored at the free moorings all to ourselves. Had a barn owl early evening giving us quite a show over the fields and then watched a beautiful sunset 😀

This is their new Sedan cruiser - Waveney Pegasus. Is it just me or does this boat look like it's taken part in a magicians sawn in half trick that's gone wrong? It looks dangerous without any rails at the back.
Health and Safety would have a field day ..... Just think of the risk assessments!

£20 for overnight? That sounds way over the top.
That's crazy, if they all charged that it would soon bump up the price of your holiday!

Although we have hired boats on the Broads numerous times, this year will be our first venture on the Southern Broads. Are there any 'not to be missed' places? What are your favourite mooring spots and places to visit?

Caught a bloke peeing off the side of his yacht into the river on Sunday morning, don't think he expected anyone to catch him on his quiet mooring spot at 7am!

We were also told yesterday there was a "drunken party of idiots" on a boat going through Potter Heigham on Saturday night. Police were called when the occupants of a hire bungalow heard a loud bang, to find they had crashed into their mooring. Needless to say they didn't stop but the occupants got the boat name, so would only be a matter of time before they were caught.

Take a mallet with you to make it easier when using rhond anchors. We forgot ours one year..... what a nightmare when the ground is rock solid!
