  1. We are also away in August and have done so in August for the last two years. It's just the luck of the draw sometimes. Couldn't get moored at Horning, (but then we have never managed that at other times), but other than that not a problem really, just be prepared to be flexible. If you want a definite place then be prepared to go earlier. We like the wild mooring spots as we can then be away early in the morning. There is something magical about the 5am cup of coffee watching the mist slowly disappear and then being ready to set off before the rest of the world wakes up. We then moor up for breakfast and showers etc after lots of others have moved on.

    Reasonably priced to,

Yes, we do exactly the same and you're right it does!

Moor at Coltishall Lock, went there in Lightning last year for the first time, but moored back at Hoveton Viaduct Moorings and did some fishing.

We moored there last year on our first night. Such a lovely mooring. Had a deer visit us early evening while I was cooking tea which was great to see.

5:30 am was really really peaceful. Just sat with a cuppa waiting for the mist to clear before setting on our way back up to Wroxham. Felt like rest of the world was sleeping and we had this magical spot just to ourselves.

Actually what am I saying ..... It's an awful mooring spot .... Definitely not to be recommended 😎😉😃

  4. Ranworth - the only time we managed to get moored was on a bank holiday Monday. I wandered off to the shop for milk whilst they filled up with water. When I got back they announced we needed to go and get a pump out. So then it was where is open, who were we near to etc. One day I will make it to Ranworth church - although I'm not sure I'd make it to the top!

Horning - never managed to moor there, or Irstead.

This year we are finally heading south - we're away for 11 nights so have plenty of time although a little daunted by the crossing having never done it before.

  5. It definitely wasn't. We only had it for a weekend, two children, one still in a high chair and then broke down on the last afternoon. Hubby had to flag down someone in a passing rowing boat to take him back to Horning to get help!

  6. Looking to pick your brains if I can 🤔

Does anyone know what boats Southgates yard hired out in 1990/91.

The one I'm looking for was already well past its best by then, blue in colour and a four berth. Think we hired it through Hoseasons.

    Any ideas?
