Thankyou Selsie ..... I was run over by a car on Saturday so have been in hospital for broken ankle and shoulder .... so I got off quite lightely.
The experience of living a disabled life whilst the ijuries heal is very humbling and it highlights the futility of all this playground sqabbling that Ricardos thread has descended into.
Just get on enjoying life, ignore those who make you sad ........ you don't know how long youve got left.
Oh !!!!, really sorry, Please accept my best wishes for your speedy recovery.
Its no consolation at all but I've had a few broken bones and it takes time but you do mend, I can understand how you feel but keep your chin up.
In addition I totally agree with your comments.

First , one and only, cant be taken away,.
No special trainers, diets, designer running shoes, just guts and determination to prove a point.
RIP Sir Roger,

blimey go to hospital for a few days and the gods dump snow everywhere and Ricardo leaves?
I think on the whole I would prefer he stayed as 75% of his postd are interesting the ramainder appear a little overly confrontational but I suspect thats got more to do with my interpretation of his written word ....
As for bullying here? I havn't seen any .... there are fothright, imovable views which no amount of debate will ever reconcile but thats what social media is.
Personally Ricardo I would have preferred you took a posting break to recover your equilibrium and then come back in when inevitably some topic will get steam blowing out of your ears.
Hope your hospital stay was for the positive.
As for the rest of your comments, as a relatively new member I totally agree.

Sadly they tend to pull these figures always in millions or billions out of fresh air, gone are the days when these vast sums of money have to be earned.
In all honesty I think the final figure will be at the higher level or beyond, looking at all those damaged pontoons and the commercial and private boats strewn all over the marina this is going to take a long time for any insurance company to investigate and make good.
Regards
Alan
Agreed Alan,
I also think this will probably end up an excuse for the Insurance companies to ramp up the premiums for the area.

Never thought I'd be glad to see rain !!!!!!

We have that horrible freezing sleet in Newmarket, just enough to cover the footprints, probably 1/2 inch per hour.
Roll on the proper spring and warm boating

Oh well one can dream,
On a serious note, we have an electric oil heater in the engine room, set at +5 degrees , a desiccant Dehumidifier in the lounge (gives off heat as a bye product), drained down the domestic water, we leave all the internal doors open so the air can circulate.
Not a lot more we can do, it's so far so good.
BTW we have a Falcon 27 spc , Twin Volvo Penta petrols.

Maybe one day when things have been dealt with and changed. You see I have another toy that I have not mentioned (and need to learn how to use) which is a remote control for the boat. It allows you to be anywhere on deck and control both engines and both thrusters. It would technically mean I could get the boat to the mooring, pop outside and grab the remote and bring her alongside - and indeed hold her alongside with the thrusters.
The real issue though with Independence is not so much her overall size - it is how high above the quay/bank/pontoon she is - it really slows things down as does the current lines I have. When dry they are just about workable and clearly cost a great deal and are very strong - but when wet they become almost unmanageable as they are so heavy. It is just another one of those things on the list to reduce to an 18mm diameter for my lines.
I recon with an able crew member who knew what they are doing it would be an easy thing to do with just two people - with three it is a walk in the park but on my own? No, not unless I was simply spinning the boat around and coming back alongside my berth in the Marina where at high tide I can easily step off.
WOW pukka piece of kit

This was my second mooring (side on) with her so it was all a bit new and senses were very much on high alert, not to mention having just brought her into a pretty tight, shallow approach so having lots of crew about to help and Charlie to give some instruction was helpful.
Exactly !!! can we still borrow Charlie please LOL

Brought a food grade blue hose to fill the tanks recently, still run it for a good 2 -3 minutes before filling you relay need to clear any rubbish from the main.
Just drain the hose as you coil it up and store in the coolest place you have, (not necessarily in the fridge)
Cheers
