Maybe time for Barnes to take a lead if they can, surely at least 1 or 2 hire companies will jump at the chance to help a 'captive audience' maybe even offer preferential rates to solo boaters ?????
Just a thought

Growing up on shores of lake windermere and reading all the Ransome books and spending all weekends and holidays sailing on the lake as a child and often camping on an island or somewhere on the shore in my own little swallows and amazons adventure with friends :-)

My first boating holiday with my parents and brother, im guessing 1969 or 70 when I was a baby. There are pictures of me in the well of a boat with not many teeth. Guess I can replicate that picture in years to come when Im ancient and they start falling out
We then swapped every other year between a Broads holiday and a beach holiday in Frinton. I havent been on a Broads holiday since my early 20s and last year Selsie and I bought a boat and once we have done a bit more work to it, new adventures begin!
Have to say its our second boat in a few months as Lulu decided the first one wasn't big enough, this one is a really lovely craft, for the record, it was Lulu who dragged me into boat ownership (and really glad she did) its our perfect 'Time Out' place.
A bit more work and we will have a wonderful boat, we will be at the meet in May, see you there !!

So a lot has been said about all sorts of things not connected to the point of the thread: Independence so I will be getting on with more editing tonight of the Blog that I filmed of the delivery trip so we can shortly have that to watch and comment on.
for now I wanted to share this video with you all and encourage everyone to please 'play nice' and think positive because I don't want our Moderators who have so far been really cool and fair to have to become a bit more firm it is after all just about a boat :)
On the 'Landlord' point, its always hard to leave the hard work at the office, hope you gave him hell. LOL

Ah well, that's spoiled a potential comedy moment

I think the combination of Maxwellian's idea of a brass plaque and Lulu's of the Crews names would be very apt.
All in favour raise a glass

Why don't the BA consider paying the toll like we do with car RFL (Tax) you buy on line, pay for the year and if you change or sell your boat it is cancelled and you get a refund, then have to tax your new boat?
Pretty simple, if it works for a few 10's of millions of cars it should work for a few thousand boats.
Just a thought !!!!!!

I think the partners of Indy's crew also deserve a big hug - because I imagine, if you think all those on this forum this weekend went through the mill with this trip, I suspect their weekend was even worse.
Mrs Griff et al - you also all deserve a large drink and good nights sleep
Totally agree, I am guilty of not thinking about the crews loved ones, they must have gone through the mill.
Congrats to all of them

I don't want anything near me that you might have rubbed off

All round a fantastic adventure, with its ups and downs (quite literally)
I feel for Robin who missed a leg and the Indy Crew who have to leave before she arrives in Brundall.
But take heart that between you all and that's everyone included, the members that took the video and photos, the crew, all the people that got Indy ship shape, all the members that sent encouragement and congratulations, comments and all the banter,
IT WAS WORTH IT.
I'm a new member who has followed 'The Captains blog' ever since we bought our first boat, my other half 'Lulu' is a full member (so only right I joined) you Guys and Girls have more than likely encouraged more people to keep boating and living their dreams than any other event.
Thank you all
Selsie
