  1. I had a 2.0 S Capri which was very tail happy. I loved it. They were brilliant GT cars but poor around corners. It was before front wheel drive took over as the main form of propulsion. But never never Crapi.

My toy car is a Norfolk built sports car that some of you may have heard of. Now owned by the Chinese, unfortunately.

  2. It is a lovely moorings. Ideal for a stopover before or after crossing Breydon water. I've often thought that there is a lot going on with the animals, shop, cafe, windpump etc. However all of these things add to the charm of the moorings and it would be ashame to see them go.

  3. We've been waiting for the A64 to be a dual carriageway between Scarborough and York for the last 40 years. I can't see the Acle straight being dualed in my lifetime. As locals to an area it matters, so we think our hopes are high on someone's agenda. They usually aren't.

  4. I haven't done the maths and I'm just throwing this out with not a lot of thought, but with such a large stretch of mooring, could they not offer permanent moorings for a number of boats as a way of generating revenue. Parking might be an issue for boat owners and some further investment will be needed but if the moorings aren't being used it might be a solution.

I'm afraid that the aspirations of some are not achievable, their ideal is simply unachievable, it defies logic.

Thankfully I will not experience thier ambition, I shall be in my dotage, sans eyes, sans teeth, sans everything. I'm nearly there.

I'm not joking, as things are I strongly advise you to buy a horse. It has good PR, likes hay, and a bedding of straw. Its only down side is that it flatulates a lot. No doubt the do gooders will gravitate to that as they have with regard to sheep and cows, and in the fullness of time, in its turn, it will be such that the horse will  be banned.

    Together with your boat.

I'm going to struggle with the 200 mile journey to Norfolk on a horse. I'll need another for the wife and two donkeys for the dog and our luggage. And I don't have stables at home.

  6. I've noticed that NBS are advertising new Viking 300s and 275s with electric propulsion. I think the advert states that there is 9 hours usage between charges which is the equivalent to a 25hp outboard.

I think net zero is unachievable and a load of rubbish.

  7. Each of us have different experiences in life and quite right too. I've been very lucky in that I had a loving and carefree childhood. It was a brilliant time when I think back. I don't feel I've missed out on anything in my 60 yrs. I have been very fortunate and I genuinely appreciate it.

  8. I think the general attitude to work has completely changed in the last generation. I was brought up to believe work comes first. That's what pays the bills. And as a child I completely understood this and then carried on the same mantra in my working life. I've done 36 yrs of weekends and 3 shifts. I've no complaints and never had a complaint from members of the family. They understood what was required. We made time for each other when we could.

  9. Thanks for posting. I have always wondered what would happen if a pump failed or batteries were not on to power said pump. I'm amazed more pumps don't fail judging by the amount of older boats there are and the state some of them are in. I suppose its possible to have two pumps fitted, one being a back up.

We went to look at a boat that had been for sale and the vendor had switched the power off completely. On entering the boat the agent immediately put the power on and the bilge shot the water out at what looked to a very strong flow. I looked under the floohatch in the saloon of the boat and it wouldn't have been long before the whole boat would have been flooded.

  10. I'm the same domain. I'm always checking the classifieds to see what's for sale. Is it worth stating your budget and type of boat that you are looking for. Someone might know of a boat that is available but not advertised.

  11. Interesting thread.

In my circle of friends I am the only one who comes to the Norfolk broads for a holiday. Whenever price is mentioned most of them think it is an expensive holiday.

You couldn't pay me to go abroad nowadays.

  12. The men's game has really lost the plot. Its quite refreshing watching the ladies team playing the game as it should be played. Except for the silly girl who got sent off for standing on the opponents back. Hopefully they can beat Spain in the final.

  13. I've had a look at the boats on discount. Some good deals for the time of the year. I don't think they are in trouble. There is only about 8 boats available out of 84. Give or take a couple. They are better hired out at 60% than not at all.
