Hi - I’m looking to soundproof my engine bay. The engine is under the floor in the cockpit which has removeable ply boards.
so I had a look on ASAP and the proper stuff looks flipping expensive. I’d have though some 25mm or 50mm celotex would do the job nicely glued on to the bottom of the flooring.
anyone got any wisdom on this?

You get what you pay for, it's a matter of discerning which of what you call 'flipping expensive' is best value for money.

A pound a foot seems to work, at least for me.
Sounds about right to me. As regards size, depends what you make it of.

An offshoot of Farnell is CPC (Combined Precision Components). Very good, competitive, and efficient. Vast range.

That's not fat, that's all puffed up trying to keep warm. I'll try and get a piccy in normal slimline mode.

62/63, Mmm! Very few had central heating or double glazing, I know we didn’t and yet thought nothing of the far more severe winters we had then.(North Yorkshire type winters)
By modern standards it’s a miracle we survived.
That said at my age I do enjoy the modern standards of comfort, even on my boat.
I was in York for that winter.

dpeaks for itself the sea freezing on rolling up the beach
That's nothing compared with 62/63 winter, compared with today's exaggerated descriptive terminology I'm surprised that I and the rest of the country's population survived it. Its been cold and we've had some heavy snow, the trouble is too many drivers haven't got a clue how to drive to the conditions, they are only taught how to pass the test, not how to DRIVE.

My day has just started walking my youngest lab, she went bananas in the snow, it's up to her stomach. Norfolk has disappeared in a blanket of white. Visibility about fifty yards at the moment. Met office upped east Norfolk to Amber warning until about midday.

From the 1988 Act: "
(1)It shall be the general duty of the Authority to manage the Broads for the purposes of—
(a)conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Broads;
(b)promoting opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the Broads by the public; and
(c)protecting the interests of navigation."
That is a very specific duty. It says by the public, not to the public
You have to promote it TO the general public for it to be understood BY the general public

Plus, I keep hearing all this squit about the Sandford principle leading to a demise of boating on the broads, there are a bloody sight more boats on Windamere than there were before the Lake district became a National Park.

Surely being an area associated with other outstanding parts of the best country in the world is a gem.

Foundry House which is on the same side of the main road is being extended out over he existing rear car park.
There are no plans to extend the supermarket side of the main road

I'm surprised that the letter writer really thought that the meetings were to take on board serious concerns, they were held purely to been seen as going through the "democratic" process. They are attempting to make as much traffic use the NDR as they can to justify the spiralling cost.

Talk about a merry go round.

So, if the hire boat policy is applied to the roads, will this mean I won't be able to hire a car on my own?
