I am all set for long journey tonight - leave work, straight to Paddington and get a train down.By the time I get to the boat it will be gone 11pm
Ahhh! So the whole thing revolves around Great Western, not the weather, sea state, mechanics and such like.

It has been expressed that the fine was "excessive". There is a top level for fines for various offences, surely this fine was at the upper limit at most, so cannot be excessive.

Quoting all these bylaws, tidal info etc. is all very well, but the average hirer is ignorant of most of this, and a fair percentage of private owners are also ignorant, plus a lot of arrogance.

'First let of the season judging by the pristine paint work.
I was 32 then, working on hire fleets.

Well the problem of what to do with the recycling waste, now the Chinese won't take it, has been solved. It's all over the road, as most of the bins blew over, a real mess.

You wake up in the early hours to the noise of wind, rain and water slapping. You stick your head outside and see by torchlight that your mooring lines and shore power cable are well under water. You can't see the quay heading.
So what do you do next?
Call Hemsby lifeboat, you're obviously adrift.

Indeed Lab! I wonder how few of us founding members are still left these days. Reading through this lot has made me realise what a bright, friendly, cheerful and helpful place this was back then. Nicknamed the "Bright side" for all the right reasons.
There is another forum for the cantankerous and disruptive element, please either go back there or join it if not already a member. I joined this forum very near its conception and wish to see its original aims upheld.

A members "forum reputation" is based upon the number of likes they receive, perhaps with a dislike button reducing the reputation by a point each time it would be more meaningful, then again I have seen on some newspaper comments section where two posters who don't agree with each other just dislike each others posts regardless of content.
What a load of c**p.
This only applies to the paranoid.

Having been in the marine industry for the last 50 odd years, it sounds very much like you have bought a large drain on your finances.

I see that according to the BBC the royal navy is highly embarrassed about a leak on a shaft seal, why? They didn't build her, it's down to the build yard.
Bet that takes a he'll of a lot of gland packing!☺

If these electric points have been deemed to be a health and safety issue due to the possibility of water ingress, well, end of story.

As I said in the second post on this thread, there wouldn't be much around the broads area was correct. Over many years when it comes from the southwest/west, it rarely comes down as snow. I remember a young Jim Bacon who was with the BBC weather centre in Norwich when they closed and he went on to set up Weatherquest at the UEA, saying that he had been here nearly two years before he realised that the weather in Norfolk didn't follow the national trend.
