There will be no evidence either way as bats hit by high vehicles will be tucked between trailer and cab and taken away from the site.

    Really? :default_rofl:

So every Bat that collides with a vehicle will be stuck in between cab and trailer?

There's me now educated that Bats hit only articulated lorries then and further to that they only hit between the cab and trailer unit?

In the words of Victor Meldrew - 'I don't believe it'   or   John McEnroe - 'You cannot be serious'

I have yet to see any evidence of dead bats anywhere along the NDR let alone adjacent to the modern art that is referred to as Bat crossings.

Besides which, the sonar arrangement that bats employ is right up there, better than anything mere mortals have produced.

Bats use their sonar at night to catch insects on the wing - Yet can't avoid an articulated lorry? :default_rofl:

    So true.  Well said.

  3. I dont know about Bats but more likely the word Batty comes to mind.       Any excuse.   One day these people will wake up and realise people matter more.     Wild animals adapt, just look at Urban Foxes.    Years ago you only saw them in the wild in the countryside, now they are in towns.

This forum seems to be full of the best . Looking at news clips with people bawling comments from an inset to a photograph  We are so pleased and privileged not to entertain social media. I am sure that both Marges and my life are better for not being involved.

    Kindest Regards Marge and Parge

Social Media I agree it is like a cesspit at times.        We were all pretty good along in our area , as most of us oldies were scared to death to go out of the door in fear it would be our last.       I am pleased to say that thanks to our Government we were able to have our first Covid jabs in the January.  Had to travel a long way for it but it was all worth it.   The volunteers at Southwold were amazing standing out in freezing weather directing all of us old fogies to where we should be or not be.  I am just about to have my 8th jab.  This time at the local pharmacy.      We had one family up the road from us that ignored all the rules, had people round all of the time and even carried on a business at the property with people calling with their cars to be repaired.     Even repaired vehicles in the road quite blatantly.    No social distancing there.       Thank heavens for all of the delivery drivers that were absolutely wonderful.    At the door I met some very interesting people who had very different careers normally but were doing the delivering to 'get out of the house'.

On the subject of invasive species the only 100% eradication programme I can recall was the removal of Coypus in the 1980s.

One species that i would like to see removed is the Egyptian Goose, an ugly beast that seems to be increasing in numbers every year. I cannot recall seeing these birds in the 1980s when i first visited the Broads.

Remove the Egyptian Goose or send them all on an Anger Management Course.   They are such bad tempered birds.

  6. Unfortunately, if you do decide to fish from a 24hr mooring and you ground bait etc , it is a tad disappointing if , especially out of season boats decide that is their venue for the night.   It is a chance you take.    Most fishermen are flexible and mine would just up sticks and move on , the thinking being,  you never know further along or another place may be even better.     I think to be a fisherman you have to have the attitude of glass half full because there is always a chance that in the next hour , the tide will change and the fish will come back etc.

At least it is not as bad as when my two sons were small they used to fish from the beach in Dorset and 9 times out of 10 there would be a 'birds nest' and tears and I would spend ages trying to undo this mass of line all tangled up.       I dont think Broads fishermen have this problem.

This forum is moderated, but if you take a look at other social media sites and comments sections, then the jar has been well and truly shaken sadly!

And , isnt it good that our forum is moderated.      The numpties can perform elsewhere and leave us lot in peace.

Have you honestly never got into a similar confrontation in the pub, on the road, or similar?

Surprisingly - No.        There seems to be an agenda here and I am not happy with it.     The OP showed behaviour by thank goodness a very few fisherman.   I am married to a fisherman and there is no way he would behave like that.     Most fishermen (and I mean all genders) are decent people, salt of the earth, go to ends to help people , they do not behave like this lot.      I think a cage would be the best place for them.      Thank goodness the fishing season is about to end.

    f that doesn't deserve a visit I don't know what does

I would also report it to the broads police for their information at the very least as this could go very wrong with a slightly more determined skipper!!!

Definitely a call to the river police.         Who the hell do they think they are?    It is not a fishing club mooring , it is a 24hr mooring, so they can ........ off may be they would understand that.

You’ve obviously got a bridge anxiety or whatever going on. I’m just relieved that I no longer wake up on the first night or two when back home thinking I’m still on the boat, to the extent that I’d get up and peer out of the window expecting to look out over water or a mooring. Mind you, it only happened after holidays when we hired, not after we’ve been on Moonlight Shadow.

Snap    -    I too on returning from a boating holiday always for about 2 weeks woke up and wondered where I was, and sitting at my desk I used feel movement of the boat, very strange (dont answer that one).     As for bridges once we have gone through I am permanently dreading not being able to get back.

When I asked them if a river inspector would loosen mooring lines, or contact an owner to prevent a sinking, the response was just blank faces. I suspect BA rangers would be far more proactive in similar circumstances.

That is utterly disgusting.     What happened to "Do unto others what you have them do unto you".   How would they feel if it was their boat in trouble.
