  1. People do not realise that boating on the broads is not akin to taking a boat on the lake. There are tides to consider and in bad weather windy weather can make it a whole new ball game. As a Mum I would have kittens about letting a youngster with a young child go off on a hire boat. It is bad enough when there are two adults on board.

  2. I think the expression - discretion - is the key here. A female family member had a bright idea that she could hire and go tootling off on her own with her young son. I do hope and trust that for a complete novice as that is what she would be, not a clue is another expression, boatyards would not let the hire go ahead.

  3. I should hardly think that someone 'moving about on board' is comparable to that boat hairing up the river at that speed, which at the end of the day is breaking the law. I am talking about being rocked about in such a manner that is harsh and unexpected.

  4. What harm is there is showing the photos. People should be aware of the wake they are creating. Consideration for other users of the rivers - wait until somebody is scalded by boiling liquid. That bling boat which is a hired boat is beyond a joke. Whatever was the rush - somebody having a heart attack?

  5. Going to stick my neck out here. Dont you think in the light of the fact that everyone new the wind was going to make the race hairy to say the least , could it not have been postponed to another day when conditions would have been so much better. Surely it is very unfair to criticise everyone as not being a 'saily' I would have thought controlling the boat in that wind was nigh on impossible for some people, hence all the problems. Do think though if the guilty ones that did have the misfortune to damage other boats should hold their hands up and not just be under the impression that they are beyond the law.

There you have it - my 10p worth.

  6. Totally agree and how yards that do that would gain so much respect from the wider public both hirers and privateers. Why does it have to take a disaster to prompt the correct action. Just wonder which yards would put their heads up and show responsibility for the louts.

  7. This is the kind of behaviour that puts my wife off crossing Breydon. Stupid or what, no care and consideration for others. The boat you passed is a modern boat and probably sea going , have you any conception of what a small Broads cruiser would suffer with attitudes like this.

    :norty:

  8. Hope this is posted in the correct place - Can anyone help - I am trying to locate a supplier of leatherette or vinyl for a wall covering on the boat - preferably with a foam backing to match that already there. I am having difficulty in finding a supplier and would appreciate any info.
