  1. FERRY IN REEDHAM

"The wooden moorings to the left of the pub ( facing the river ) have been removed and it is now grass."

Are you saying that the old wooden structure that we have used in the past to moor against (looking from the pub to the river) have been removed or are you referring to the other side of the Ferry itself. Yes I know I am female and get my lefts and rights get confused. :? As I recall the old wooden structure was against reeds!! I am just wondering what or where you would at moor now. We had some good times moored on the old wooden moorings, the papers were delivered in the mornings. Lovely meal in the pub. Good Fishing. Non stop entertainment with the Ferry going to and fro. Good old times.

  2. Well Neil you may not have said anything yet but this post has given us all a bit of fun over the past days when most of us are bored to death, unable to get out and do what you want to due to the weather. Did you have enlist under a different name? :wave

  3. Anyone also interest in replacing their ropes.....

From Rope Services UK (0191 460 6613) site we purchased our ropes 16mm navy blue softline mooring ropes 10 mtrs long soft eye spliced one end . If I told you that the cost 4 of them totalled £70. You would not believe the high quality and delivery was almost immediate. You can chose whatever colour , within reason that you require and if the sizes on the site are not to a persons preference , if you ring them they will make them up to your needs.

    Fenders:-

We purchased 2 of the 80 x 20 cm (all of these fenders come with attached rope and are inflated) and 4 packs of 60 x 15cm. Total cost £167.48 from Pacermarine.

No I am not on commission , just like to help people out.

I did get a quote from a chandlery and to say it was nearer the £400 mark on special offer is no exageration.

    Hope this all makes sense.

  4. Beccles looked very soggy on Boxing Day as we passed the Marina and all the surrounding fields. The sun is actually out this morning but more of the dreaded stuff is forecast for later. Everything is so saturated it has nowhere to go now. Even the Beccles By Pass had water half way across one lane at one point.

Fortunately it does drain away quickly.

  5. My sister lives in Kent and during the last couple of days has thoroughly enjoyed the trips down the river and back. As has been said in the summer months and long evenings it will make such interesting viewing. They have beenn leaving 11 1 and 3. Dont know if that applies on Christmas Eve but we can hope.

    Merry Christmas.

  6. We will drink to a Merry Christmas but even better a perfect New Year, weather wise and health wise. Hope everyone has a fantastic time and Santa delivers all that is requested. Roll on the better weather , already the days are getting long (so they tell me). All the best.

  7. Thank you very much for letting me know, only I have an elderly neighbour whom I happened to mention it to and he was so distressed as it could have been his old pal that I had to check up as to which Harbour Master we were referring to. I can now go and let him know but that was just personal to himself.

We still cannot get over such a sad loss.
