I see they have arrested the scumbag who urinated beside PC Keith Palmer memorial stone..

Isn’t it incredible they can arrest him for that and then last weekend they can rip down a stature causing criminal damage and no action being taken against them and NO arrests for that because it would of been called racist..

So if you can ignore a user can you ignore a thread? There are quite a few I really cba reading through but get in the way of the recents list.

I don't want to put any users on an ignore list, just a few topics.

PS. Sorry about the thread drift.

This is going to get very VERY messy. My earlier comment re ex Forces guarding war memorials etc seemed reasonable. It now appears that an element of professional hooligans who follow the football circuit ( and are presumably bored during COVID ) have now latched onto it and will also be there. These are the extreme right wing element - riots loom I feel.

  4. "Coffee farmers and their families are supposed to benefit from what are called partnership agreements between the EU and its member states’ former colonies. But every time you drink a cup of Nespresso coffeeyou are sending more money to Nespresso and Nestlé than to dirt-poor coffee farmers who rely on the crop.

This is appalling. The “shared value” in coffee is symbolic of a 21st-century colonialism where the vast bulk of profits are kept in developed countries while most of the hard work, sacrifice and risks are heaped on coffee-producing nations. "

    Just sayin, you know. :default_biggrin:

  5. I have had time to reflect on the issue. Rather than removing statues 'for safe keeping, perhaps they should remain, however front each one with a large, bold information board clearly detailing why the said individual was an a***hole .

Surely nobody could reasonably object, could they ? Rhetorical question. Of course they would - even on here :default_icon_cry:

I was thinking along these lines and wondered how much wealth had been created in Ghana and if there are statues over there.

Future history will have to explain why in 2020 all these statues were removed or relocated.

That won't be too difficult. However explaining why it took so long may be .

  7. https://yachtcharterdedrait.nl/en/blog/what-are-marrekrite-moorings/

In the province of Friesland, in the northern part of the Netherlands, there are many options to moor your boat. Many of these mooring places are called Marrekrite moorings. That is because they are marked and maintained by the “Marrekrite“: a partnership between the Frisian province and municipalities.

If you value peace and quiet, it's a great system, almost as if they want to encourage visitors, unlike much of the UK.....

Exactly! There has just been some blurb in the EDP about this. Hoseasons trying to claim they have offered refunds voluntarily as good honest brokers but of course they didn't mention that they had had their arms twisted! In other words they most likely wouldn't have done it if they hadn't been cornered. I gather the parent company was the subject of a bulk of the complaints.

Possibly because they held the bulk of the bookings ?
