WARNING WARNING WARNING
I hope the mods can highlight this post.
I have just observed that the ice has not gone. There are ice sheets drifting just below the waves. I don't know how thick but they are there.
Please exercise extreme caution if navigating.

Now find someone to helm the tow-boat

Just thought I'd mention that the ice at Richardson's marina seems to have cleared.
Just saying !!!
-
I would think so.
-
Yes it was.

WARNING...
A boat has just left Richardson's, playing 'ice breakers'. He was struggling.
The ice is far thicker than I had thought. I reckon an inch in places.
-
Yep, senior moment there
-
Ice in the mariner thinning slowly.

I have to say Hylander, that Richard calling his site the official one was unwise, perhaps to the point of arrogance, and ill or not, that view I stand by.
I was treated quite shoddily by some of the moderators there, which is why I moved here.
I shouldn't have to state that I wish Richard well, and I'm sure all those who have known him or been on his forum feel the same way. My disagreement with him is water under the bridge now and has been for a long time.
Some of the members there did a thorough job of alienating some members, who subsequently moved their allegiance to this forum. One in particular has every right to hold Richard in low esteem, yet he seems not to.
Had I felt inclined to mock Richard or his forum I would have done so. I have not, but I would prefer not to be told that I mustn't.

I certainly am :-)

Given that there was a recognised way round the problem that both parties were aware of, it does appear that the BA took a bloody minded approach.
I can see the point of having listed buildings but this wasn't one. I just get cross when organisations boss people about for neither gain nor good reason.

Ice at Richardson's does not go into the wetshed. About 1/2 inch thick overall, and thinning slowly.
My aft cabin, -5. At 09:00
Wheelhouse +5
Fwd cabin +15
Central heating now on. Boat warming fast.
I ❤ the Chinese.

Trust me Grendel, thermal long-johns and shorts is not a good look.

It reminds me of the engine I used to have on a previous boat. That one was blue too.

I tried going south for the winter, but I didn't find Reedham much better.

Anything involving acoustics is a bit of a black art though.
Sound advice if ever I've heard any.

Warning to all. My boat is surrounded by ice and it's ice from here to the wetshed.
It's also snowing. Very pretty, very cold.

So, back to the Chinese heater.
It's now being used in anger for about 12 hours a day. I give it about an hour on full to get things warm then half power to maintain the temperature. I have been doing that for a week now. I do turn it off if I go out, but I would do that whatever the make.
Pros, cons and conclusions so far.
Pros. ... total outlay £300 plus fitting for brand new unit. More user friendly control panel.
Cons. Pump is noisy but I'm getting used to that.
Conclusions. Only time will tell if this has been a good move overall but for now, I'm happy. It should be remembered that all the fittings are from the original Eberspatcher unit and that the exhaust and fuel feeds are therefore tried and tested. I would be reluctant to use those supplied with the Chinese heater which do indeed look cheap and cheerful.

Do you accept monthly payments ?

I understand some Chinese items are surprisingly well made and reliable. Further, they don't carry the high prices the better known versions have.
😀

I am reluctant to question your last post but is not CO also an issue with gas cookers, especially if combustion has a yellow flame?

The BA still lists the height of Ludham bridge as being an average of 8ft6” a level very rarely seen nowadays it’s about time the BA guide on bridge clearances is updated Potter is still listed at 6ft6” !!
No CC, don't give them that escape route. Instead, it's about time they did the dredging to reinstate those self admitted clearances

There's a flow chart that may help.
Is clearance enough?
No, go into pub and wait.
Yes, go into pub and celebrate.

Will Yacht Sailing Boats Disappear
in Broads Chat

The last time I was in a sailing boat they had no ice for the G&T, and the last time I was in a dinghy, they had no gin.
Cruisers every day.
