  1. I do know that BT email changed once they started using Outlook.  Our old BT account did delete emails from their server after a period of time so, for example, if you had downloaded from the Pop 3 server, messages would be deleted.  Since they moved to Outlook, there is a setting that allows deletion once you have taken the mail down to your PC but if you don't set this option up, your inbox will fill up (they do send a warning first)!

When I saw the "54000 emails" title, it reminded me of something that happened to me and many other btconnect email customers. Back in 2004, a mailing house server in Australia went bonkers and in the morning, my email was overloaded. as there were something like 2,000,000 messages trying to get on BT's server.  I rang and explained what was happening and although sympathetic, they refused to do anything about it.  I checked all the other email addys this mailer was being sent to and contacted one of the companies involved.  They were an ecommerce dependent business and suffering like crazy. Both of us called BT and conferenced the call so they then realised how serious the situation was and blocked the sender.

The email was offering extended warranty on cars!  I never took them up on the offertwoguns

  2. I am pretty sure there have been other questions on this topic so with a bit of luck  you should get some decent suggestions. Proofing could be a great help but that is best left to those with experience of canvas. Ours has a sort of plastic coating inside and out (there is a term for that type of fabric) so we never need to proof.  A handy tip though for all types of canopy is how to prevent mould growing in the zips. Spray on some beeswax polish, brush in with a small brush and this helps stop the build up and also makes it easy to remove.  Bonus is the zips run smoother as well!

  3. Sounds like a lot of disruption right now. Off topic, I wish they would fit permanent lights to the Belt Road/Norwich Road junction nest to the Brick Kilns.  I know they cleared some trees a while back to give a better view but to me, the junction can still be dangerous. I remember they had lights there for a few weeks while roadworks were ongoing and that made life a lot easier!

Bought my wife a vacuum cleaner for Valentine's day.
She said "out of all the Valentine's day presents you've bought me, this one sucks the most."

    Sounds like you might be!

  5. SeaScrew even lol. I always found them very helpful and they provide a fast service. On the subject of pulpit rails, I personally prefer to have them from a safety point of view. I can see the point of pilot rails but with our Falcon 22, it is better to have our existing setup as the flat deck walking areas are quite narrow. The later 22 and 23 models had a much stronger and better rail system.

Back then I worked for a company called Dive-Con, an American owned oil exploration company in Great Yarmouth. The owner of the car was also employed there. if I remember rightly his girl friend lived in Lowestoft. Getting on for fifty years ago now!

I was told what was said to be a true story involving a readymix driver who was tipped off his wife was misbehaving. The tip off was correct but when he assumed the posh car outside his house belonged to his wifes "friend" he filled it with concrete.  The commotion outside caused our man the get quickly clothed, jump on his pushbike and ride off up the road.  The car belonged to an insurance agent visiting a neighbour!

Re ex wives getting revenge, I once remember one such lady who called in Ready-Mix. Her husband had a swanky open top American sportscar which was parked outside his replacement lady's house. His ex had it filled with concrete!

I have heard several versions of that story lol

Ah, you have a 60 mile head start on me (Buckinghamshire) though when we are up working on JA at Buntingford I think we may be pretty close to you.

Not far at all is Buntingford!  I did know a guy who built boats near there in Hormead years ago.

Being three hours away means, like everyone else, I have to try and pre guess these things.

Luckily our marina keeps an eye on warps during this sort of weather.  3 hours is a fair old trek, we can door to boat in 2 hours from Herts

I always have a little grin when I see plonkers jamming on the brakes as they pass an average speed camera only to belt off again once they have passed it .

"Each SPECS speed camera records a date and time stamp. Then, by ANPR, the computer can then work out your average speed between the cameras with photographic evidence that you were speeding between the SPECS cameras. SPECS speed cameras also record your number plate and issue you a speeding ticket if you were speeding along the average speed controlled stretch "

So you see, they don't need to " beat a bend in the road, buildings, trees and the like:naughty:

You are very correct there Poppy!  As a professional trained and active CCTV engineer, I have often stayed out of these discussions!

You might try working in reverse and inserting a hose in each of the vents one by one. Listen at the filler point of your tank to see if there is any flow back. If none check the bilge. If the bilge is filling they probably disconnected or dislodged then.

Thanks for your thoughts on this one, the bilge is dry though with no signs of disconnections at all.  The yard are going to ring me and let me know what they did to fix the original leak and why the system is behaving the way it is. Will be awkward to do much at present as the system has been drained down for winter.

Firstly, a couple of milton tabs with a couple of litres of water is pointless. You have a tank of water and a boat full of pipework. You need to know the size of the tank, dose it properly with the correct amount of purification tabs or powder and FILL IT fully so that the whole tank comes into contact with the solution. Then run every tap and shower through until you smell the purification solution come though.

    Now, leave it overnight.

Then empty the tanks though all taps/outlets and then flush through again or until the instructions on the purification solution tell you to stop.

I have a problem on my motor home where we get bad smells from the water if it's been standing for a few weeks. Can't quite fathom it, but I suspect that the plastic pipework is degrading. Either that or there's unpleasant sludge in the tank that our purification only attacks the surface of.

    Thanks Andy,

As is is winter, the tanks are now empty apart from the last small dose of Milton. If I do get up for a couple of days before Christmas, I will go with what you suggested. Cold water tanks are Aquaflow and were new in Spring 2009.  The bow tank is 7.5 gallon and thwartships is 10 gallon.  Calorifier is a C Warm 35 litre unit new in 2012. most pipework on the cold and hot side is original (1984) but new sections were added when the C Warm unit was fitted.

As to why the vents no longer work, I need to get the answer from FM as to what they did!
