Imoticons. (or Are They Now Called "imojicons"

It used to be that when I typed :)  or  :-)  it would automatically be displayed as the traditional smiley. This was useful as it was far quicker and easier than stopping what I was typing, going up to the emoticon library, selecting the one I want then returning to the typing.

Firstly I notice that in the "library" there is no straight forward  "Smiley face" (which is very annoying) and second I find myself wondering if that automatic function will ever return.

Any idea?
