woodwose Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Did you know that Ludham has a connection with George Washington? Not only that, but with Royalty too. Just an odd bit of history. Not often we go back to the 15th Century. Details here: http://www.ludhamarchive.org.uk/sotherton.htm Hope this is of interest. Nigel Ludham Community Archive Group 5 1 Quote
JennyMorgan Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Fascinating stuff, thank you Nigel. My father's family was in Framlingham at one time, allegedly a member of which stole a loaf of bread and was transported to America where one of his subsequent family made good and was to be a signatory of the American Declaration of Independence. Delve around a bit and it becomes clear that the Eastern Counties and America are well connected. Quote
woodwose Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 The presentation of the plaque has now taken place both for Ludham and Hoveton St John. Pictures here: http://www.ludhamarchive.org.uk/sotherton.htm Nigel 5 Quote
