Water trap filter

I have just had my engine rebuilt and a new fuel injector pump fitted, the engineer working on my boat said water in the diesel probably caused the damage. As the repair bill is astronomical I'm keen to prevent a repeat.

My engine is a BMC 1.5 and the only filter is a CAV filter on the engine itself, there isn't a pre engine filter.

Looking on ASAP supplies, I can see various filters with glass bowls for separating water from the fuel. I seem to recall something in the BSS about glass bowls on filters? Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which filter to get.

Racor 500 turbine is more that up to the job and has no glass bowl, ASAP are Racor supplier so should stock it.

I think you are right, although our last boat passed the BSS WITH a glass bowl

im sure ive read that glass traps are a no no this set up looks reasonable and a double set up

hi,

clear or glass bowl filters will fail the bss.....unless you can prove they meet the relevent british standard, ie you must have documented proof from the manufacturer,then they will pass
