diesel falcon Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Hi, it,s that time of year again,when you start thinking of those jobs that have been put off during the busy boating season,i ve got one of them.... i have to adjust the tappets on the starboard engine,i know the clearance to use butttt,idon,t know the sequence of the valves ie adjust number .... with number.....rocking,this is normaly easy but no one can tell me how to do a 5 cylinder engine!!! please help!!! ps it,s a mercruiser d183 turbo, regards Trev Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Hockham Admiral Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Trev, Hi Regardless of the number of cylinders, if you turn the engine over until the inlet and then the outlet have closed, give it another half turn and both will be ok to check. Guest Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Hi Trevor I can confirm the clearance is 0.30mm for both inlet and outlet and could probably give you the sequence for the 6 cylinder, but will need the manuals on the boat for the 5 cylinder.
