Important - Forum Update This Week

Recommended Posts

Over the coming days, we'll be updating the forum to the latest version of the software available.

This brings with it a number of security improvements, as well as some tweaks to the look and feel.

We have to keep pace with the updates and I appreciate that there may be a few differences when we first roll it out, however standing still isn't really an option for us.

For those of you who would like to read the boring techie stuff, then you can view the release notes here and the latest minor release details here.

We have been waiting until this latest major release was stable and known bugs had been resolved before rolling it out to the forum, so have held back a little to minimise the impact to you all.

If you notice a period of forum downtime, it will be because we are in the middle of applying the updates for you.

The update is now complete.

It didn't go perfectly and our software provider had to get involved, but things should be getting back to normal over the next few hours.

Please be aware that the list of Unread and Latest Topics is currently being rebuilt, so it might not show all the latest content until that process has completed. This is standard with any update and should be complete by the end of the day.

I think we might have hit upon the sweet spot of when to do updates...

Normally they are always done in the evening or at weekends due to work commitments. Obviously, those are also the times the forum tends to be really busy so disruption can be significant.

Today's was done at around 8:30 as I knew there would be UK-based customer support available if we needed them (which we did) and everything was upgraded and working again within the hour.
