Geo Smith Wroxham

I’m sure that many people on here are not aware that Duncan Prophet

sadly died on 13 March this year.

He may be better known as Geo Smith of Wroxham, next to Roys DIY

store, which he and his wife and 2 sons have run since 1975.

It was Duncan who built up the Sheerline boats before selling to the

Applegate family who moved that part of the business to Thorpe as

Wroxham Marine and has become a prestigious brand name both

here and abroad.

I won’t go into details but suffice to say that despite health problems

of both his wife and himself, he was a honourable man and had become

a friend due to us buying a our Sheerline 950 and it being the last boat

that he built as a Sheerline. He always had time to answer questions

and would not let anyone down if it was within his power to do so.

A lovely man and sad loss.

I would just add that the business is still up and running, open for repairs picnic boat and fishing boat hire.
