LadyPatricia
Hi all, I know a lot of people will say the eberspacher heaters are best for boats but what are your opinions on propex heaters? I notice they now do a duel fuel version that uses gas and electric, the HS2000E http://www.propexheatsource.co.uk/heaters/hs2000e Any thoughts? diesel falcon
I have both on the boat, the propex is a nice cheap unit , but is noisy, inside, but not outside!, the eberpacher has the advantage of you can site it in the engine bay (if you have diesel engine), the eber, really produces the heat quickly where as the propex takes a while ,for some reason, A friend has the duel fuel propex and to be blunt it s useless couldn,t get it to perform! Don,t buy fleebay second hand junk, save up and buy a new unit.......there are so many stories of nightmares !! especially if you can,t put them in yourself.. the eberspacher wins for me. IMHO of coarse
JawsOrca
Hi Steve, We thought about these although look at the consumption, they seem a bit juicy (although we was looking for the houseboat) for a toy boat I'd guess you wont use that much? For ease of getting through the bsc I'd suggest you get a new unit too. We have a webasto airtop 2000 supplied by JPC Direct in brundall. Tom is very good and worth a chat.
Oddfellow
The BSS isn't interested in the propex heater, only that the gas installation is sound. However, fitting a propex is more restricted than a diesel heater.
LadyPatricia
What do you mean by restricted Andy? The location it can be fitted or something else? Steve
Oddfellow
Because you cannot fit in an engine bay and the fact that gas installations carry a greater regulation than diesel, locating a Propex heater within the accepted distance of a suitable exhaust point on the hull is more challenging, especailly in a smaller cruiser as there just may not be the space to get it where you want it.
