    Good idea Dave,

    What about this......

    Dear Mr Scott,

Thank you for your reply, and of course the link to The Broads Authority publication.

Sorry my reply is a little late, as I have just returned from a boating holiday on The Broads.

Here is a little more of Rory Stewarts statement, as you can see the Broads Authority did miss a little from the beginning.

I am saying both those things. Just to reinforce that absolutely clearly for the avoidance of any doubt, the broads are not legally a national park and do not come under the national park legislation, and nor will they. We are very comfortable with the broads describing themselves as a national park, but that is essentially to express in common-sense terms to the public that it is a protected landscape with many of the qualities of other national parks.

    Hi Geoff

Glad you enjoyed some fine Ales! I'm itching to try the Reedlighter but I'm afraid unless any finds it's way up the land of ferrets and flat caps it might be a while yet. Word on the streets suggests that all the beers have improved since Belinda Jennings took over. Sorry there was no Headcracker though, fine stuff.

The beer in Wayford doesn't ring any bells I'm afraid. There's so many now it's hard to keep up. The beer at Wayford has been pretty pedestrian in the past so maybe the new owners have improved the beer choice too cheersbar

    Hi Mr Nog,

While in the shop the lady behind counter said that the head cracker would be ready and bottled by mid April...

And if I wanted I could order it online for delivery

Maybe the Reedlighter will be the same, and you could order some......

But like any beer on mail order (from bottles,) it might not taste as good as from the pump

    cheersbar

...or more a beer I haven't tried but would very much like to. It looks as if Belinda Jennings, Woodfordes new Head Brewer, is making her mark already. Hopefully this should have a lot more flavour than Woodfordes standard offerings. I'd be very interested to hear any feedback as sadly it could be a while until I get to try it :cry

    cheersbar

  6. And the reply is............ drum rollllllllllllll

Thank you your email regarding a question used on a recent episode of 'The Chase'.

    We asked:

What is the most easterly of the UK's National Parks?
    A) The Broads
    B.)The Cairngorms
    C) The North York Moors

And gave the answer as The Broads, which is the furthest east of the three locations.

We strive to make sure all of our questions are correct and each one is researched thoroughly at the time of writing and is further sent to external verifiers for fact checking.

The Broads is a ‘member of the National Park family’ but with the additional functions related to maintaining the navigation. It was given an equivalent status to that of a National Park by its own specific legislation. Therefore the answer is correct.

Additionally, because of this equivalent status our Minister, Rory Stewart MP, has stated that he is more than comfortable for the area to be known explicitly as “Broads National Park”.

You will find some more detail in the press statement at this location:

    http://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/news-and-publications/news/defra-minister-declares-broads-national-park-branding-common-sense

So in conclusion, I am happy that our question was perfectly accurate and there is no cause for further concern.

    Regards,

  7. A copy of my email sent to ITV

I would like to bring to your attention a dubious question and answer in The Chase episode aired on Friday 26th Feb.

    The multiple choice question was

which is the most easterly national park in the UK.

    The three possible answers were

The Broads, The cairngorms, The North Yorkshire Moors

The answer was given as The Broads, this is incorrect as The Broads are not a National Park, and due to the Sandford Principle will never be a National Park.
