  2. Hi Clive... Will PM you Regards... Terry
  3. My very Best Wishes go out to you Simon...So sorry to hear of your plight at the moment Hope you are on the mend soon...and I knew I was missing something... "YOUR CRACKING PICTURES" ....Look forward to more in the near future for now....Terry
  4. Hi Clive... Does it have anything to do with Hoss???
  5. Hi Carol.. A couple of corkers here ...However I feel sure that I may be able to point you in possibly the right direction with the cruiser in the second pic B758. There used to be a class running out of Hipperson's Beccles with the same features as the one in your pic. The for'ard well and the pronounced framework around the cabin side windows I feel points to a definite, same as the class I know. Their names were "STEAL-A-WAY" "AWAY-A-WHYLE" "ONAWAY" "ROMA-WHYLE" and "HYAWAY". I have a 1958 copy of "Broadland Holidays" which shows only 2 of the above still in service with Hippersons - "STEAL-A-WAY" and "ONAWAY" so I think your Boat is one of the other 3. Now as for Builder I think this poses a further query, in that when registrations were issued out, they were as you are aware allocated to the area that the craft were based...Now "B" would point us to the Bure and a Northern Yard and this is where I come unstuck as the design I'm afraid does not ring any bells at all...sorry. Still investigating the other one...My first thoughts are either Press or Yaxley (Coltishall/Belaugh area) or Pegg/G.Smith (Wroxham) All the Best....Terry
  6. Hi Barry...Here again Yes...Easy one this time ...Just in case I end up with egg on my face...When the full profile is there to see it makes it far easier and putting as you say Broad/Brookwind out of the equation there were only, to my memory 2 others to the Windboat design of that length. One was "LADY CHRISTINA" and ran fron Newsons in Oulton - How they came by this and when, I'd be interested to find out if anyone has any History of her. The second one and the one I'll go with was "KON-TIKI" of Burecraft Wroxham. The oval windows being the give-away. Do you have any idea Barry what year that pic was taken??? which leads me onto a question for you being WINDBOAT minded. Going back to before the 2nd war I heard that Windboats had 2 larger vessels on hire than the ones we know about. Broadwind and Brookwind were 38ft and around for yrs but if my info is correct they, or to put it correctly Graham Bunn had 2 of 42 or poss 43ft named "GOODWIND" and "FRESHWIND". I have a copy of a 1947 Blakes that I managed to get off e-bay but no sign of them in there, Any Ideas please Best Regards...Terry
  7. Hi Barry....You certainly know your Windboats. There were 2 I had in mind as ex Hirefleet that I considered possible - APRIL TIME of Little Ships and VELETA of A.J Yaxley being what I would call the odd ones out. Then again I believe a number were built and sold as Private ownerships only. So bearing that in mind and the fact that the windows threw me, I couldn't be sure, although the flag I think is a VWBA one and would point to VELETA as she is a registered member No 558. I can't recall those windows though Ref the transom/cockpit shot at Ranworth there are a few of similar lines but as it appears that one of the rubbers dosn't run completely to the transom I'll go with a "CHALLENGER" of A.D Truman Oulton Broad. All the Best...Terry
  8. Hi Steve. Going straight in at the deep end this time....Windboats...TRADEWIND class I knew the Back-End of the sunken jobby was familiar and when you gave the clue of the "House" colours it clicked. I believe if my memory serves me right her name was "Kingfisher" whilst in private ownership. I only wish it were traceable back to her Hirefleet Days. As there were 10 in the class I feel it could obviously be "Perm any one from ten" All the Best...Terry
  9. EASTICKS...Foxglove class
  10. Yes Ian you could well be on the mark there with "Rushleen" ...Didn't see the E-Bay listing myself but it would have been October when I saw her and she was looking very poorly Such a shame if yet another classic could not be saved...She looked in good nick 2yrs ago ...Terry Steve...Thinking caps on for this one...Feel I should know it Would I be right in thinking that the Black Hulled Gunboat that you posted earlier has claimed a victim Going into the "Thinktank" ...I may be some while
  11. Nice one Clive... Yes, "Rushleen" did go away so to speak for a few years to the Bristol area I'm lead to believe, returning to Norfolk latter part of 2006 if info I have is correct. The last time I saw her was at the end of last year (Wayford Bridge) at Lee and JJ's on the hard standing. I regret, looking very sorry for herself, particularly under the waterline. I think I have a pic or two somewhere...will have to look them out. My pic collection is very similar to your "Loft"...needs some sorting...I will get round to it one day
  12. Good Thinking Jonny...First rate suggestion...My thoughts entirely
  13. Hi Barry Depends what you mean as largest...but in your lovely pic I spy "Broadsman 1" originally with Collins Pleasure Craft - Oulton Broad when named "Braemar 1" and subsequently bought by the Boss and ran out of Stalham for a number of yrs. No 2 had a varnished hull and was lost in a fire....1967 if memory serves me right. Poss Clive may be able to update us on that... ....Terry
  14. Hear Hear Carol The More the Merrier....Long Live the Woodies Such a shame to see one die...and Ive seen a few this year Steve...How right you are...Ricko's are top dollar in my book...Loved the place and the people from the very first visit in 62 and still the same... Not so much business associates but True Friends...Boating without any hassle..Bliss ...Terry
  15. Hi Steve...I think that you may by now have the answer you're looking for. Having worked at Richardson's on a full time and casual basis over a countless number of yrs there really didn't seem to be the need for one of my own...although I would have loved one and have a letter here somewhere at home from Mr Richardson regarding a purchase of one of the final 3 42ft's (As Clive now has back in his ownership). That would have been in 1985. However, due to the fact that Richardson's have always looked after us so well and they had a yard full it made more sence to have one of theirs as and when required. And we still do I'm pleased to say.... So.. I'm ever so sorry but....I haven't got one of own.. Now where are those lottery numbers???? All the Best...Terry
  16. Hi Sirdar...May I call you Steve Did you realise what you were starting with your pic of "Emerald"??...Just look at the interest this thread has created 115 posts and counting...."GREAT"...and the history/info - unbelievable PZ...Yet another super Boat to drool over ...It is through people such as yourselves, that, IMHO gives the Broads that Golden Era feel that I first felt back in the 60's. Without Boats such as yours and many others who are prepared to plough endless sums into maintaining them, by now everything would be too modern for my liking....don't really want to say Plastic ...although I appreciate there are some beauties out there that I do like e.g Aquafibre 38 and 42 centre cockpit's...Great Craft in their own right... But...when the likes of PZ, are about you would think that you were back in the 60's - Wonderful P.S. Are you a member of the VWBA?? Best Regards...Terry
  17. Doh!!!!! What a mistaker to maker....Sorry ...Yes Clive, you are so right...I mean't to say Minstrel's 2 and 3 Minstrel 1 (S25) - Osprey 1 (S24) and Merlin 5 (S23) were all finished at Stalham although built in Oulton. Yes, I remember your Dad telling me many moons ago that Rugby was the best Boatbuilder he ever knew and when he (Dad) was building up the fleet his workrate was tremendous and know doubt was a key factor in the 58 move to Stalham...Getting the yard operational ect Ref the Elysians, I never really counted them as they were already in the fleet before "Wooden" Boat production finished.
  18. Hi Jonny Sorry to disapoint you but those markings were there well before I left school and done by someone a lot more knowledgeable about Boatbuilding than I could ever know. As a point of interest... To my knowledge I think that the following were built at Stalham in 1958 - Minstrel 1 and 2 / Osprey 2 and then came the Fulmar/Broadsventure (like Clives)/ Broadlander/Siesta /Clarion (A One-Off)/Broadway and Swiftway classes between then and 1966. A total of 46 cruisers whose frames would have come from that loft. All the Best...Terry
  19. HI Clive After all this time and still clearly visible...Thanks for going out of your way have a look, even it it mean't getting covered in 40+ yrs of dust. The last time any of those were used would be in 1966 as the next generation of "New Builds" were Ocean 30's when the TIDEWAYS came along. Didn't need frames any more Can you still recognise which markings belonged to which class?? And I wonder whose writing that is...Maybe Rugby Aldred??...poss your Dads maybe?? Just think...The Boat you have now lovingly brought "Home" took her shape up there...This is stuff that "Dreams" are made of And of course the other one at Wayford that looks a little sorry for herself All the Best...Terry
  20. Hi Sirdar... I must say that untill you started this thread with your pic of "EMERALD" I knew very little about "BANHAM'S" but always had an idea that they were a very influential BUILDER of their time. Little did I realise how much and how diversified their range and skills covered. Your knowledge of the company has been a great addition to us on this site... Hope there's more to come Best Regards...Terry
  21. Hi Barry "WOODPECKER" - Wayford Bridge Yacht Station - Later to be renamed "CHIFFCHAFF" Anywhere near? Terry
  22. Oh my God ...We've been rumbled No...joking apart hadn't even noticed that Sirdar/Carol...Always was slow on the uptake...but learning all the time even at my age Must put in my memory bank .... to look in future : Terry
  23. Cor...That Monarch...Beautiful or what Just wait untill Clive gets BV XII up and running again Brilliant photo's Sirdar...Thanks for posting All the Best...Terry
