  1. Sirdar...Ref your last picture...Again a Newson and I think you have tried a googlie on us? TOPAZ in disguise running as a gun boat : : Shoot me if I'm wrong Terry
  2. Spot on Sirdar...Look Forward to them Terry
  3. Hi Geoff Your observation of the picture re: Ernest Collins 30ft - Shining Emblem. I think that you have hit the nail on the head with your recollection's of Bosun from Broom's. After another look at said pic the boat in question: Does not have the distictive Earnest Collins Apron Shield on the bow and the Hand Rails (if original) are as fitted to Bosun. Unlike the the ones as fitted by Collins with the chrome ring holders that we used at Richardsons at that time. Hi Sirdar...Does this sound feasable to you?? Best Regards...Terry
  4. Hi Andy and Clive... By sheer coincidence if the photograph I've just seen in NBN Boats is Andy's then it is also one of the New Hulls a guy called Keith Rogers and myself went to Neatishead to collect for fitting out at Stalham in 1966...R732 - TIDEWAY 2. That being the case she is an ex RICHARDSONS boat...SPOT ON
  5. Hi Barry... Yes..I too feel that Sirdar is spot on with "WENDY" from Jack Powles...Can't think of another of that build, Terry
  6. Spot on Clive...Be most interested to here Terry
  7. Hi Sirdar... Have to hand it to you with this little beauty...I guess I'll have to return the compliment and get you a hot-dog and a beer this time Lovely Boat but sorry...Haven't a Clue Terry
  8. Well Barry...I'll say that this craft is testing the old grey matter a bit ...The only class that springs to mind are the 3 "Midnight Sun" boats that ran out of Acle Bridge from the Sun Boats yard. The first of the class being built as far as my information goes in 1953, the other 2 shortly after. The one thing that might throw a spanner in the works is that it does resemble a Fletcher from a distance but the sheer on this one, would I feel indicate not...So I'll go with "MIDNIGHT SUN" - SUN BOATS - ACLE BRIDGE Regards...Terry
  9. Hi Sirdar...Getting Harder With your background of dealings with Banham's I will say "Serenade" from their fleet...but George Smith had one identical named "Sable" around the same time which dates back to pre second world war I believe... Best Regards
  10. Good Morning Sirdar...I like these Collins Pleasure Craft Oulton Broad "Ondine" class - Total of 4 in class - Sorry don't know which one :x Built I believe around 1960/61 Barry beat me to it...Well done
  11. Fabulous stuff Barry...and the photographs exellent...52yrs ago this year and what a story...Swallows and Amazons for real... : : And you were part of it...Amazing who we bump into on this SPOT ON site Keep it up...Loving it... for now...Terry
  12. Barry...I'm so Your knowledge of Landamores I have to thank you for...It's the Historical side of things that I find inspiring and threads such as these and your restoration of Star Premiere not to be missed... All the Best...Terry
  13. Hi Trevor... You are so right...The old Silver and White Emblems I would take someones arm off for...having my sensable head on of course...Woudn't turn down the chance of a Golden either...Lovely Boats for, can I say it ssh..."Plastic" Regards...Terry
  14. Hi Sirdar... Yes she's a Newson...Ex S303 TOPAZ...although the aft cabin sides look different to what I remember...shorter??? Where has that shot been taken please?...Not recognisable to me I can't believe what you say about VENUS..,those pics are stunning and to be up for sale at 3k beggars belief ...She must have been suffering terribly underneath...Do you know if she was saved?.. Be such a shame if she now resides in that BOATYARD UNDER THE WATER All the Best...Terry
  15. Hi Sirdar...Cracking pictures Just look at the craftsmanship in there...and the wood..Boootiful What is it about wooden boats that I don't feel for fibreglass???
  16. Hi Sirdar You have really come up trumps with your info and pictures. Your knowledge of Banhams has really impressed me and the pics are superb...Thanks for that As my main interest over the years has been Broads Hirefleets your explanation about their business has enlightened me no-end...I only knew that the yard at Horning was running under the Norfolk Holiday Boats flag but not that it was still in the Banham family untii 1966. From your records you obviously hold the Banham name very dearly. Your hols in the 50's must have been great..I know ours were in the 60's...No T.V's when we first went and a true adventure. Still loving it today. As you may have found elsewhere on the forum I am a Richardsons Man...As your user name is associated with Banhams mine also is associated with Richardsons...Hence Broadlander 3 may alltime favourite cruiser. for now...Terry
  17. Clive...I remember making frames up there for Broadways/Swiftways....Not on top of the roof of course Are the markings still on the floor...after all it is only 43yrs ago
  18. Hi Clive Your Dad's remarks really surprise me ...After all the Heart and Soul that went into their creation and the Buisiness he built up around them...He likes Plastic Boats : ...Thats one thing about your Dad, he did move with the times and no doubt why he built up a successful buisiness as we know it today...unlike myself, still living in The Dark Ages Your remark about the car I do understand...As I recall he never was interested in cars and don't ever remember him driving when I was there in the sixties. The car that I do call to mind if my memory serves me right was a two-tone green Vauxhall Cresta that he bought for your grandmother and Ted Wright used to drive for her. Which brings me to another bit of useless info, in that it was Ted and his wife that I lodged with at Sutton..Happy Days As for wooden boats being trouble...Maybe they are..but that's why we love them so much...they are just like us...grow old gracefully and still turn an eye when cared for...not including myself in that last remark All the Best...Terry
  19. Hi Sirdar I find it truly amazing at how much interest can be created from one picture and would like to pass on my thanks to you for posting it... It is this type of subject that really gets me interested...Being an avid Broads Man from my first visit in 62 at the age of 13 I Just love any input that deals with Hire Cruisers and in particularly Old/Ex Hire Boats...I must admit that my first thoughts on seeing your pic was that it was one of the Norfolk Sirdars and with the passage of time had been subject to a few minor alterations...so a real surprise to find that I was totally wrong...but the classic lines of her stand out a mile..lovely to see As for the "Monarch"...Speechless comes to mind ...What a beauty..I have seen it at Horning whilst on the river but it has always been under covers. Do you by any chance know what happened to the other 3?? BANHAMS...certainly a name associated with Broads History...any knowledge you have of this family business I would be very interested to hear Springsong Smashing photographs...Thanks for posting...Would love to hear more of your time with LANDAMORES...Another company with classic Broads Boats and heaps of Broads History Best Regards....Terry
  20. Hi Sirdar As your user name indicates this cruiser is of the "Sirdar" class built by Banhams of Cambrigeshire...Altered somewhat around the wheelhouse to what I remember them...In 1962 on our first holiday in Broadland I remember there being 5 in the class and were operated under the name of Norfolk Holiday Boats. As to where they were built I would have to guess Horning but may be well wide of the mark there...However a nice boat as most Banhams that I can remember were Regards...Terry
  21. Hi Clive..and BV XII Pleased to see you have your restoration thread up and running nice and early. Really looking forward to this one, having had a personal interest in her since 65. I may hi-jack a small piece of your thread : and mean to get to Stalham as soon as time allows with camera in hand... Exiting Times Ahead Terry
  22. Hi All I too have two printers, both Epson..A Four ink DX4450 for everyday work and a 6 ink PHOTO R360 wich is self explanatory. I must say that I am well pleased with the performance of both and would not hesitate to replace either with the same should the worst happen. I do use Epson inks as recomended by my local supplier and have to say that the Results that I get are amazing when considering the price of the printer's when purchased. However I do agree that the Epson Claria inks are not the cheapest, but for trouble free printing I can't fault them. EPSON for me... Terry
  23. Hi Simon Wonderful work again and congrats to you for your composition of shots...Once again IMHO "Spot on" Thanks for sharing... P&S ? Do you mind me asking...What do you use please...Most interested Regards...Terry
