  1. Hi Simon... Yes..I can now see what you are saying,..but to my untrained eye I feel that you are a little over critical of your own work...You are obviously now looking for that perfect picture and with your skills with a camera you will get it!...If there were a prize for an overall set of photographs over a period of time, in my book it would go to you IMHO...Keep them coming please All the Best...Terry
  2. Yes Poppy...Has to be Hickling!...The clouds are a giveaway...caused by the locals reaction to lack of government funding for coastal erosion and the suggestion of flooding the area to save money...What are they thinking :x :x Yes... Has to be Hickling Broad... Terry
  3. Simon...What can I say...another superb set of photographs! Love the the Mill shots and silhouette's...Stunning...Thanks for posting For me the Mill from beneath is outstanding and shows your eye for a good photograph and typifies Norfolk without saying anything! ...Terry
  4. Hi Clive.. As you know "The Lowliner" is more commonly associated with more modern "Plastic" boats...BUT...RICKO'S had one first!!... Beat that Mr Faircraft-Loynes../ and we're talking 1964 Here...That's a good point about Potter Clive Maybe they all should have been built that way Catch you later when you've had a chance to speak to Dad... for now...Terry
  5. Hi Guys and Girls Ref the boat in question "St Germain" / "Lady Pauline"....Here is a pic of her in her hirefleet days...BROADSVENTURE 11 - T494... Built in 1964 by Gerry Thrower in the old hanger and known around the yard as "The Lowliner" Clive...Do you by any chance know why??...Maybe your Dad can still remember?? Terry
  6. Hi Clive Yes, she is definitely a BV. As you have pointed out there is evidence of the original canopy rails and the aft cabin sides are also BV. The only other class could be Broadlander, but the stem on each class differed. A round stem was adopted for the later ones, Broadlander 1 T496 onwards and carried on to the Siesta/Clarion/Broadway and Swiftway whereas the BV stem as in the picture was prominent from the planking, as is your No 12. I wonder if the blue one is my missing No 9??...Who Knows for now...Terry
  7. With ref to Clives recent aquisition, he mentions another also at Wayford from the same class Here is a picture of her...Identity unknown...unless anyone knows otherwise?...Any info gratefully recieved Terry
  8. Good Morning Clive and fellow enthusiasts... This is really turning out to be "Right up my Sreet"....BROADSVENTURES...Yes, they were my favourites and i suppose still are, although others such as the FULMAR and the last of the line, BROADLANDERS (Hence my User Name) hold equal status as "The Best Hireboats Ever" IMHO. As for the "Yellow Paint"....That was a Trademark....Instantly recognisable....You could always tell a Richardsons Boat from half a mile away....Loved It! Does anyone out there have a picture of BROADSVENURE 9 - T492 ? please....I don't seem to have one All the Best...,Terry
  9. Clive...I'll keep you to that!!...Looking forward to it already Pass on my Regards to the crew down there! Terry
  10. Clive What can I say? ...but...."SPOT ON"... And NO I didn't take that one...Lovely to see and "very special"...couldn't agree more Must treat you to a drink when I see you

    Camera

Hi Jonny Love the Camera...Always fancied one myself, but coudn't raise enough wonger to get one...just out of my range The thing I liked about them was that the shutter release was on the front of the camera body as was my very first camera...An Ilford Prontor SVS (Not an SLR) Very interesting... All the Best...Terry B
  12. Hi Everyone... Many thanks for the positive remarks ect, for the pics I finally managed to upload last night after trial and many errors to get it right. But...with some advice from Members I think that at last I can post some more with confidence...something lacking untill now...So Thanks for that! With ref to some of your comments, it does take you back when you see the cars from 40+ yrs ago, although I think Simon is pulling my leg when he say's "They all look the same?" The light green Ford Anglia estate seen in some pics belonged to my uncle, who was instrumental in persuading my parents to come to the "Broads" instead of taking us to "Butlins"...A Master Stroke eh! Springsong...To answer your question...At the time I took the pics I was still at school (on hol of course) but you are also on the right track, in that I did start working for Mr. Richardson shortly after, when through their help I managed to get lodgings in the area. (Parents still in Lincolnshire). Wonderful Times All the Best...Terry
  13. Did I take that?? ...Oh I did didn't I!...Please excuse me...Another senior moment ..Still it was 43 yrs ago By the way Clive... This has turned out to be a really fasinating thread and your links are "SPOT ON". A cracking read and very informative! Thanks for posting them...Terry
  14. Yeh!...Thats the One...Know anything about it Clive?? Lovely shot of your grandfathers Y+B....Brilliant site this! Terry

  16. Hi! As this is my first attempt to post pictures onto the site please bear with me if this fails to happen...Here are a few of my favourites Will add more later if successful with downsizing...Regards...Terry B
  17. Hi Brucec... I'll second that!.... ...After a twelve hr shift at work to come home, fire up the puter and find a Rammy post on here me up no end. :-D Dosn't he remind you of Professor Unwin??
  18. Another ACE shot from Plesbit...See wehat I mean about a GOOD EYE WELL DONE May I call you Simon?...Regards Terry B
  19. Plesbit... I have to say...What a superb collection of pictures you have posted here for us members...Absolutely "STUNNING" Whatever the situation, be-it panoramic/close-up you have a natural EYE for a prize winning shot repeatedly! Can I borrow it???? Best Regards...Terry B
  20. How right you are Plesbit....The're great arn't they??? Thanks Carol Your knowledge of the Broads amazes me.... Best Regards.. Terry
  21. Hi Clive and Plesbit Fasinating programme...Yery interesting, as am also, or should say was a very keen railway anorak. Steam was my thing until we arrived at Stalham in 62! I then became a boating nut...specialist subject-cruisers...However after studying that vital 20secs of film I too have had to give best on identifying the boats in shot...for the present anyway! Will have a more in-depth look tomorrow night after work when a bit more time available...This gets interesting, when one picture (as posted by Clive) opens up so much information about a particular place/people from days gone-by. All the Best...Terry B
  22. Hi Clive With ref to the above pic of the Stalham Yard.... I was wrong about there being no boat/s in the picture. Right in the centre of shot behind the line of trees you can make out a Merlin/Osprey outline moored stern-on to where the second building shop was to be erected. And...if my eyes don't decieve me to the far left just below the granary site, is the pull-out/relaunch tractor as driven by Ted Piggen... I really must get these eyes seen too All the Best....Terry
  23. Having had a closer look at this last pic the boat in centre of the 2 Ricko builds is Macnab-W181....Your grandfathers first cruiser Best Regards....Terry
