  1. If it had been a 4108 it would have been an inside the wet shed job , I need some bits for mine :dance :dance

I cant beleive it would happen in a crime free zone like Stalham, good job the engine is not in the boat. Anyway there is a consortium in the wet shed who have their own CCTV set up so you better watch out :River Police

  2. not an overly exciting post but out with the old BMC 2.2 engine and nasty TMP gearbox and the replacement BMC 2.5 and PRM gearbox waiting to be cleaned up, sprayed and a chrome rocker cover put on  before being re fitted.

    :)

There has been a bit of progress if you count this (chrome rocker cover) :dance

Also we will have to see how far into the season we get before the writing is ignored ;):lol:

  3. Hi Jimbo,

Yes it would, thing is I may change the toilet to an electric type which would be less hastle than if there was a big hole in the tank. Also I am not sure how often I would be getting pumped out and when the wether is hot and the tank has been full a while things are ok until the crust is broken but after that spending time in the 'smallest room' is not too nice ;)

  4. This is where I have decided to put the toilet tank, it will basically be under the toilet. I am having an ITT toilet with a short pipe. The tank will not be very big but that should not be a major problem.

The pipes in the picture are from the 'thunderbox' which was removed long ago and replaced with a portaloo thing.

  5. Just the sort of crew Clive must love in the first one :naughty::naughty:

We love all our customers (apart from one party on an Oyster :naughty: ) we get very little hastle and the young parties are so happy when they get their deposits back they find out how nice we are and want to come again

but this is not a all male/young party topic ;);)

  6. Hi Jonny,

she is very open plan now (especially aft) and the port side is galley not leaving much spare room anywhere, the double is now in the front and there is a pull out bunk opposite the galley so if it is not under the loo then I will have to think a bit more about where to put it.

  7. I wish, I seem to have forgotten about her a bit, I have plenty of things to distract me at the moment but will put some wheels in motion soon.

one thing which was holding things up was what to do about a toilet tank and wether to change the size of the diesl or water tanks to fit one in. I am probably going to have a fairly small tank made and build a plinth over it to take the toilet on top with a short pipe.

problem is, I just want to use her and I have a feeling that I may take her away fron the yard before 'phase1' is finished which would mean more work than planned next time but we will see what we can get done in the time available.

  8. Does your dad still come into work then Clive, what does he do? :wave:grin:

    Hi Barry,

Dad drives to work every day, he deals with me and my brother :lol:

in the winter there are bits and pieces to do but he gets a bit bored but in the summer he deals with answering complaints. That sounds bad but although we get less than 1% there is still a lot of work that he puts in to finding out what the problem was and sorting it out and keeping the customer happy while not giving too much away. There are other things we all do but they do not individually ammount to much.

  9. Hi ricko it was fibre glass, some people thought we should not have done that, but cos it was major work underneath we thought it was the best option.

    Hi Sue,

It is up to you how you repair your boat, after all you are putting your hand in your pocket.

There are big differences between Fiberglass and epoxy resins which I shant go into unless you ask as the job is done and I'm sure you have had plenty of advice.

Fiberglass will not form a lasting bond to wood so it should come off easily when it is time to repair the bottom. If I were you I would make sure the fiberglass is secured well at the bows as I was told of a boat which had the same underwater treatment as yours, there was a small gap between the wood and fiberglass and whilst underway the water the water forced its way between the layers and withe the 'hydraulic' effect the whole fiberglass bottom peeled away from the hull :o

  10. Clive.. is someone at the boatyard short sighted or been struggling to read the boat names??! :naughty:

    Hi Dan,

It has been accepted that the name on the transom will come off as it is way too big, the jury is out on the sides.

    Jonny,

The font is the very bold, not everyones choice but it is modern and easy to read.

The black plastic pipe for the rubbers is very hard to get hold of now and we think we have the last 12 rolls of it which were produced, we only want to use it to repair boats with black so we have used blue on these boats as it should be easy to get when repairs are needed.

  11. Hats off to you Sue, it is not many people who take a boat apart and have the inclination to put them back together :clap:clap

where you glassed the underneath did you use epoxy resin or fiberglass (GRP)?

I was trying to enlarge a pic to see if there was any purple paint but I cant,.... Is that purple / lilac next to that skin fitting?

  12. Clive, I have often heard your guys refer to the Ponderosa, is it just the big shed or the whole area at that end of the yard.

How was it so named, was someone a 60's western fan?

    Hi Gordon,

The Ponderosa is the shed next to the Wet shed, I am not sure where the name came from but I think your guess is right, I have asked before but cant remember the answer!

  13. Good story Barry, it is probably true.

I remember years ago the signwriter was asked to sign Tropical one. He did this but failed to remember nearly all of our boats were 'Gems' he was employed by us so it took a while to live it down!

  14. the reason we now fit Eberspacher heaters is that the red diesel seems to make little of no difference to the running of them, we found that the Webastos needed a decoke more often so did not bother with a webasto quote.

For a hire craft it is not practical to have another tank and the heaters do quite a few hours a year, that could be the difference between the two.
