  1. Hi thanks for the info, I know now where Turners was. I dont know of Janca, but I did know Spray, she lived in our wet shed for years, we did a fair bit of work on her in that time, she was owned by two doctors if my memory serves me correctly, she was very well looked after then.

My Mums house was used in Swallows and Amazons, it was the house where the twins Port and Starboard lived, the BBC painted it from blue to black and it has been ever since. they also filmed some kind of court room scene in one of the rooms, you can tell as the door handle opens upside down! The white rat or hamster or whatever it was lived there for the duration of the filming!!!

That was a long time ago, I have never seen it since it was on telly as we didnt have a video!

  2. Hi Barry,

where was Turners yard? I have been in Horning virtually all my life but never heard reference to it

do you know where Norada and Olive are being stored? I hope something happens with them soon as we all know what happens to wooden boats which are shut up and left :(

  3. When we sold an Atlantic from Horning the new owner called the boat Rollocks he had the name imaginitavely sign written and it was easy to read wrong. When she was moved to the Thames they were told to change the name :lol:

  4. problem is there are so many ''discover this'', ''visit here'', ''enjoy whatever'' websites and they are all trying to get advertising revenue, problem is they are all incomplete as you cant advertise everywhere it also seems asif a few have forgotten their sites even exist as they are so out of date.

  5. Hi Brian,

I agree with all the good feedback about Richardsons and some of the bad. I would rather leave others to say wether our boats are good or bad though and wont comment on others opinions- same as holiday experiences.

As for video, there will be space but I think we will hold off for a bit until it gets better and cheaper ;)

please dont ask me for pricing- call the booking office that is who I ask!

as you say there is members chat for other stuff or private messages, if you want to know anything about the boats ask Dan  , he knows more than most of us about them )

  6. Hi Dan,

thanks for that, you did read the back right, we do not have sailing boats at Stalham, just Acle. We are considering re introducing them to Stalham next year but we get a lot of broken masts due to bridges and it had been becoming a problem when we had to focus on other things.

The wine voucher was offfered to us, some may find it useful, we make nothing from it, perhaps you will see some adverts or local business vouchers next year.

with the Broads on a budget, we wanted to hilight the boats which were less than a tenner per person per night, as we feel the the broads should be enjoyed by all and not be perceived as an expencive holiday for the elite. We were slightly supprised at how many there were, but as you say they are good boats, the main concern is that we dont want to be perceived as a budget fleet (dispite the pricing)

the website is being re-done (again) and should be full of internal pics of the boats. The new site will check availability and take online booking but I am not sure when that will be live, there will also be a new boat sales/ private moorings/ services site.

Thanks for the feedback, it is good to get independant views on things we try and get things right but you cant do that all the time ;) keep it coming.

    cheers

  7. Hi I saw this thread a while back and realised there was a problem, I have worked some things out to make this facility better (lowered the price :) )

we are still not the cheapest as they are free but I am not that generous :naughty:

    £10 launch

    £10 recover.

24hrs free parking for car and trailer

car park £10 per week. car+trailer £20 per week .

    undercover parking extra when available.

Super saver slip discount card detail

Right, seeing as there has been a request the following has been agreed.

Buy a card for £150 per year and you can launch and recover as much as you want and leave your car outside for free inbetween 8-)

the price was a bit on the high side but we used our discression with the dinghys, it is difficult to ask for more from a bigger boat but they will benefit more now, you would be suprised at how big some of the boats being towed around are :o

  8. Hi, yes it is that boat, but lets not get too carried away, he will be on his own out there with no service or backup no trial run, I dont think there is even a tea towel, but I am sure he will be OK.

Right, bring on the funny comments about the last line lol

  9. Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear about your struggle through the long 'off' season, If tou really cant wait 3 months and you dont mind a dual steer I could lend you Prisma (FOC) for the weekend but you would have to bring your own bedding! she has been kept operational for me to get to the Malsters for my Sunday carvery but things have changed.

  10. Hi Carol,

reading back i was wrong to suggest the wreck is MTB 653, as you say she was moved south and it would have been unlikely she would have been moved back up.

I suspect she was moved to Norwich when Frank Wild dug the basin at Horning as there would have been no access as previously there was a footpath along the riverbank from the thatched boatshed on the corner of Ferry view estate.

  11. A bulkhead from broadwind lives on in Brookwind from when she was broken! the owner of Broadwind abandoned her owing monies but returned to remove the engine through the side of the hull while she was on hard standing!

I understand now regarding the originals.

    cheers.
