Hi Liberty, Sorry for the late reply to your question of where the ty-warps came from. Good old eBay, I find eBay a real good source for bits at a very good prices . Also used them for holding the titanium lagging on the Wallas heater exhaust, also purchased from eBay. John.

Hi Here is a tip for mounting the Toll-Number Plate to the pulpit. I was going to use normal ty-wraps to suspend the Toll-Number Plates on 'Braveheart' but as ty-wraps age very quickly in sunlight and don't look that nice I found these stainless steel ty-wraps. The S/S ty-wraps obviously don't degrade in sunlight and do look nice against the S/S Pulpit. They are easy to use, just like a nylon ty-wrap, and are easy to cut. I made my 'number plates' from a off cut of hardwood, varnished and I think they suit our new boat. Have to say the 'old British Waterways' number plates were a smart look type also. John.

Hi Well after thinking this is a long time to wait for the Broom Owners Club burgee to arrive it arrived in the post next morning . Have to say it is a very nicely made burgee indeed, best I've ever seen . Very well worth the wait. We were down at the boat yesterday getting it ready for the season and I put up the new flags and they looked a treat. Don't forget that the RYA Flag Etiquette states that you raise your flags at sunrise and lower them at sunset, including the Red Ensign and you should not leave them out when not on board. As a side effect they should last you ages if store in the dry on board. Why fly the Broom (or other club flags) flags, simply a pride in my vessel and belonging to the group. I do agree lots of people thing the Broom flag is the Turkish Flag!!, even more fun is me flying a Cuban Flag as a courtesy flag . John.

Hi We went in to Brooms today (by car) and they do sell them, a traditional red and white one and a 'modern type' in grey and white. I think they are both the same price at £12.58 inc vat. I opted for the traditional red and white one which will be on 'Braveheart' when we are out and about. We are still waiting for our 'Broom Owner Club' one to arrive, 3 weeks and counting . John.

Hi Having a bit of a clear out!!! I have for sale the following: 1 x 20lb (9Kg) Plough Anchor. It was on our new boat, a 30 foot Broom. 1 x Canal lock key/windlass. 17 X T5 8W Fluorescent tubes, new and tested OK. 4 x Lab-Craft CL9 12 volt single tube fluorescent Fittings, all tested OK but One has a dead switch. Hi The Broom Owners Club do have club burgee and house flags, three different styles, at £12.50 each +P&P £1.00. But I think you have to be a member before you can buy because you can't get to the order page without a login. They don't appear to have just 'Broom logo' ones though. I'm still looking for that, but will ask Broom when I go on a trip round the factory in October. I've joined them and it looks to be well organised. John.

You can always schedule a day's run between food and refreshment stops just about everywhere, particularly if you take some of the more popular routes which service the larger charter fleets. In the event that you find yourself between restaurants, there's always ample opportunity to stock up on local produce. , P

As I have said on another page I would also like to travel the Thames, not sure how far you can get in a week though? Still with 120 miles of the Broads to explore (we seem to find something different every time we go out) I think we will be spending certainly most of this year around Norfolk, and North Suffolk. We went up to the old girl today to check everything was OK and the bilge was working etc, although very cold and damp (a lot of mist) it was very peaceful and tranquil in the yard with not many people about, cant wait till the weather is a little better and take her out before the waterways get to busy. It's where I am constantly thinking of, and as the years have passed I have needed to visit more and more to be able to get through each year! However, I love going on the waterways abroad, and if there was an endless pot of cash I'd be having at least one holiday in France each year I reckon until I had covered everywhere. The combination of a boating holiday and warmer temperatire (in theory) make for the best holiday ever. The week we spent in the South of France from St Gilles to Port Cassafieres was one of my all time favourite holidays. I'd also like to get back to Ireland one year and go from Carrick and head north. In terms of exceeding my expectations the first trip we had on the Thames in 2002 from one of my all time favourite yards at Thames Ditton (Ferryline) definately wins this prize. We only booked it for a change of UK holiday, and it was great. It was far prettier and more varied & interesting than any of us ever expected, and the river at Windsor, with the view of the castle takes some beating. We loved it so much the next year we hired "Lady Diana" from Kris Cruisers as Ferryline had closed (sob sob). This was equally as enjoyable, as all my Thames trips have been. Only the increased hire cost & limited choices stops me venturing off there more often. Anyway, all this is making me want to get some holidays booked so hopefully that is enough for now!! Dan

Her size and the location make her a bit pricey as dayboats go, but then I guess she is no ordinary dayboat! I last saw her in 2007 when she was with Bridge Boats and looked in very original standard and a bit dated inside, which I guess why she is not in their holiday hire-fleet.
