  1. Hi JM Can't do that on Breydon anymore. If you try it, they launch the inshore lifeboat and get you off before you have chance to paint anything ...... John.
  2. Hi The 'new' advertiser Swancraft & Shadow Boats do this, give Paul a ring on 01603 712362 or 07909180427. Can't tell you how much but his labour rates are good. John.
  3. Had a look over this one at the Beccles Charter Day in the Hipperson yard. Also there were MT102 and the Wherry 'Maud' among others. These were taken at North Cove when they were all on the way to Beccles. John !
  4. There is rubbish disposal at Langley Dyke, well there was a week or so ago. Swancraft have fuel (99p a litre), water and pump out for private and I guess hire craft. John.
  5. Hi Welcome to the Forum. At 6'9" you have little to worry about, but better slightly late as you get a push from the incoming tide. My expirience tells me to be a bit late (1/2hr or so) when crossing south to north as I've always found the Bure late turning at Yarmouth Y. S. Often I've been doing 4.5 mph on the last bit before Breydon Bridge fighting the incoming tide only to turn up the Bure and fight an out going tide which is still going out at quite a lick and has slowed me to 0.5mph!!! (not with my present boat). North to South is usually fine on time or a bit late. So go for it, but I'd check with a phone call to the Rangers at Yarmouth Y.S. The day before to do a final check. Photo is of someone who didn't time it right for their high air draft boat, high water springs!!! But they just had to wait awhile, no problem really. John.
  6. Hi AllLast night/early this morning some bu**ers untied both our and the boat next to us, they untied both bow ropes!!!! Braveheart didn't move as I had springs on but the other boat a Shetland 4+2 (none local boat with short stay plaques) swung round and ended up bow out into the river only his stern rope saving him from drifting off. One of the chaps in the local houses told me that just last week a Richardson's boat had his bow rope undone!!! So take care at this spot as well as Barton Turf!!! As an aside the chap also told me that the Parish Council are in discussions with the BA to get power and water put on the staithe, which will be great, don't know when though as they are talking at this stage. I am going to inform both BA river control and Broads Beat of the incident. Photo of the spot Braveheart was in, the Shetland was Bow on to us. Photo taken at another time, we like that spot!! John.
  7. Well done Griff, is it still £80 to transfer the plate?? Had my plate years, DHF137, which chosen for the car a Lancia Martini Delta HF Turbo with 137bhp, now it's on a Ford Fiesta Econetic!!! but it does de-age the car atleast . John.
  8. Hi We will be out Thursday down to Polkeys Mill to cross Breydon on Fridays early tide (08:06 (lowwater +1hr)) then stopping overnight at Stracey Mill. We will then go onto Ranworth for Saturday and Sunday before spending at week or so going round the Northern Rivers. If you see us out there give us a wave. If it's silly busy up North, we'll be off back down to the South, we've been out lots since we moved moorings to Brundall and love the peaceful rivers . John.
  9. I still have the porta potti with an extra waste tank available at just £50.00 Also 1 x 25M shorepower cable available at £20.00. John.
  10. Well you know what they say.... A(der) + B(ee) = S(wallowtail) Sorry but couldn't resist . John
  11. Hi John Yes they are as before stern on, just nice new quayheading, but because of the odd shape of this end mooring spot, we can get in bow on and use the quayheading down the side to be side on, if that makes sense. Odd but it suits us fine with Braveheart and it fills an odd shaped mooring spot, just leave us 11 foot width please! John.
  12. Hi Can you add Jo, me and Toby to the list please. Just one request, could we have Braveheart corner please, that's the first mooring spot nearest the dingy bay, as it is just the right shape for Braveheart. We are moored in that spot at the moment. The moorings are now all but a few minor touches complete, as you can see in the photo taken today. John.
  13. Hi We are moored outside the Ferryhouse right now, they have just a few final touches to do to the new moorings but are as good as done and very nice they too. We have just had our Sunday lunch, brilliant the best on the Broads or anywhere else for that matter! We will shortly be going back in to listen to Bob Kett and have a few more beers, oh bliss!!! This is now a 'Must Stop' pub! Thank you Sonia and team you deserve every success. John.
  14. Hi Alan Yes, he is an interesting chap, l meet him at the Broom Boat Show a month or so ago he had a stand explaining the work of the Trust. I'll leave it to him to explain. John.
  15. Hi We are now moored at Cantley, with a very strong wind blowing everyone away from the bank mooring has been a real challenge especially for those also trying to moor with the tide ! Too balance things up I made a pigs ear of it to, but thanks to help from a hirer already moored we made it in, thank you for your assistance. I've been out most of the afternoon helping other in, I'm now kn**kerrd and in the Reedcutter having a pint or three, bu**ger the weather. Back home tomorrow but we will be out again soon. John.
  16. Hi All One of the chaps from the Trust is trying to register on the Forum at the moment to update us all with information!!! THE DATE OF THE EVENT IS JUNE 5th !!!!!! Please make a note if you wish to be there. When his login is approved he will post other details I'm sure. Spotted this one just passing Somerleyton the other day! John.
  17. They have now updated the high wind time to 21:00 through to 01:00, so not much sleep tonight then . John.
  18. Monday 12:00hrs. Well the rain hasn't arrived yet but the wind has picked up and is now due to peak around 15:00 to 16:00 hrs. with 40mph gusts and rain. We are now hunkered down at the Waverney River Centre to sit it out till tomorrow. The cruise down from Becceles was breezy to say the least! But it looks like the privateers had departed early as only saw a handful of hire boats on the way down and we appear to be the only private cruiser moored here! Bring on summer please please, my heating has been used to good effect but really this late in May it is getting silly . John.
  19. If you are on the Southern rivers then you could head for the Bank Holiday powerboat racing on Monday midday 12:00. They are just that bit quicker than the sailies. The weather is however predicted to be rubbish with rain and very very high winds (gusts upto 40mph!!!!!). I've book a mooring in the Waveney River Centre thank goodness?, will batten down the hatches and hide for the day! John.
  20. Hi Looks like the prediction for blue skies and sun for 18:00 was wrong! It's here now !!! Should be good for the powerboat racing tonight. John.
  21. Well we've been out since Monday and while it's been very windy for a few days it has stayed mainly dry. Today is thinning cloud, let's hope it continues to improve. I can see blue bits above and a big white ball, hay it's the sun!!!! The forecast here at Oulton Broad (BBC Weather app) is saying today sun and cloud till 18:00 the unbroken sun. Friday light cloud, both days light winds at 8 mph. Saturday similar but sun braking though around 13:00 which will be nice. Come on out you know you want too. John.
  22. Hi, SwanR, I imagine it looks very different to when it was a hire yard! There are still quite a few mooring plots available should anyone want one! There is also a nice mooring at Sutton Staithe vacant if you get in touch with Robert at the boatyard there! Very reasonable it is to! deebee29, thank you for the link and yes we think Braveheart is indeed a boy of much character, reminded us both of our much love Hardy 'Joshua', some boats just have that look about them. John.
  23. Hi David, Yes indeed that was us, Jo & John, on the way to the new moorings at Swancraft yard. Which is now all private moorings since they packed up the hire boats. Pretty sure we return the waves, though I was probably getting a bit wound up at the thought of the first mooring in a new bay next to a rather smart Shoreline with that wind blowing us sideways on to it! As it transpired we moor really well, why is it that when you get it just right there's no one around watching. Nice photo of Braveheart by the way, perhaps you could send me a full size file copy if you wouldn't mind. I do also monitor and post here on NBN as quite a few friends move over here awhile back and now fly both flags on Braveheart. John.
  24. Hi Baz I've been a long term fan of Ctek chargers for many years now. Yes they are a bit more expensive than some others but you do get a decent warranty with them and the are the best! I have had one on all the boats right back to Blue Skies our Viking 26. Our present boat Braveheart has a new one (January) this year a MXS10 which keeps 3 x 115A/H plus 1x 95A/H combined happy. I reckon a MXS7 would do you fine for 2x110A/H batteries. Hunt around on the net for the best price, I got my MXS10 for nearly half price and it was with me within two days! What size solar panel have you got? I fitted a 200Watt panel with a super tracking type regulator works a treat when we are off shorepower, keeps the batteries topped up even with the fridge and tv etc. on the go. John.
