This isn't going to go away anytime soon is it !!!
Luke & Claire xx
Maybe you should have held off re-naming your boat and called it "Special" as well, then on the VHF everybody would know it was you!

Hi all
I have a issue with my throttles or gearbox not engaging neutral properly. When mooring etc I put the lever in the neutral position but sometimes the boat carries on under power. Usually a little wiggle sorts it but sometines I have to go in the opposite direction first. This was made more apparent when I started the engine and on reving it to warm up the boat shot forward. I went to check the othyer helm and the levers were in neutral - good job I was still tied up.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance

Oh...o.k

Having an rather ill her indoors on board over the weekend we decided just to chill out in the marina rather than go anywhere.
Without knowing it we started to people watch, as you do, and we were absolutley amazed how many people were on the water without life jackets on, both adults and kids.
We always wear ours on deck, and even the dog has one.
O.K - so we probably look like a right bunch of spanners but then if we wanted fashion we would be boating in marbella.

Did we establish if there is a dress code at RNSYC? I have looked on their website and cannot seem to find anything
( I am ok with the Oulton bit - cagoule and wooly hat at the ready! )

and have a pump out (yes, the boat was sold to us complete with other peoples turds).
Mark that is gross , you would have thought the pre-delivery inspection would include a tick box for "empty of poo" or was that on the sale details...maybe an optional extra
-
Hi all
Went down to Jeckells this am, so whilst I was there had a reckey of OB.
The entrance to the lock thing looks a bit little

Oh, thats ok then Wayne. DSC is not essential for next weekend, I think half do have it and half don't.
That's OK - I dont intend going past shouting distance of the other boats anyway
-
Hi all - thanks for the info.
I will put the refelctor on the back burner till I do the Holland trip
I have VHF but it is not DSC - so the plan was to get that changed.

Nobody can make you have one
Hiya
I was under the impression SOLAS were regulations that had to be followed.. http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/solas.pdf... It is advisory rather than a legal requirment then?
Thanks

This radar reflector stuff is a nightmare.
I am depsperatly trying to sort one out for Sea Jem cos I want to take the opportunity for a sea run at the Salties Easter if the weather is good.
It seems from my research that the Echomax seem to be the passive ones to go for but to fit that I think I would have to also buy an arch to staddle my raydome and move my anchor light - so the whole set up will be about £300.00 + - I know you cant put a price of safety but at this stage we wont be doing that much sea work.
Obviously we have to have one to comply with SOLAS
Anyone got any ideas??
Thanks

Hopefully get to try it out this w/e - her indoors will be pleased

It does just go to show, though, that you should never assume that you are being told the truth about work that has been carried out!
Mmm.. not just me that's cynical then...anyway have fun on Breydon

Did I mention I always wear mine
No ... seriously though it was good to have the safety message reinforced, not just the wearing but the maintenance as being just as important.
We echo the thanks.
