  1. Hi Mark

I too changed the anodes for Ali on Black Diamond.

She does not have shaft anodes. The stern gear is all bonded back to the anodes so all I did was check that was in place and secure. The shafts are also bonded through the drivetrain - there should be a link either side of the rubber coupling to contiune the bond. If you are worried you could also put on a shaft "Electro eliminator" - I know asap do them but as Baz will tell you a strong tide makes them squeek at night!

I am sure you know but the thruster is also likely to have its own anode.

    cheers

  2. Was a tad chilly down the marina today - watched a sailboat go out with the people really well wrapped up. :o

Found a good job to do today - ran Paraffin through the Eber on full blast for four hours to give it a clean out - boat was nice and warm

  3. I took these pictures today to show my Brother in Law who used to be a lifeguard on Gorleston beach but now lives in Newquay - well he would !

When he was up at Christmas I suggested we took the dogs on the beach and he said we need to look at the tides as at high tide there is NO beach. It was a few years since he left the area and was surprised how far the beach now stretches. I told him that the the breakwater know locally as the "Keep Off "is now in very shallow water - in his day people used to bomb off that!

Well this is the scene with still an hour to run before low tide. I know the tide is lower than prediction but I guess the outer harbour has done something for the local community after all :naughty:

  4. Actually Wayne, you have managed to make the canal look quite attractive there. Maybe worth a call to the London Tourist Board, see if they would like you to photograph some more of their less salubrious sites. :naughty::lol:

What about a nice waterscape Ian, do you think I should send the photo to Boris? :naughty::naughty:

  5. Hardly the same thing wayneakp, that picture purely shows some street art decorating hoarding around a construction site. It would be nice if Station Rd Hoveton and parts of Potter Heigham looked remotely like that, but sadly they don't, they resemble something that looks like the Luftwaffe have visited.

It is of course easy to pick on parts of the broads that are not so nice, as I did, tongue in cheek, with a shot of London - maybe look at some of the other pictures of the broads on that same site. It would be nice for all areas to be pristine, but especilly in these times that isnt going to happen.

Maybe if people focused on the positives in life

    Overall Gem I say ....

  6. Think this is totally the wrong place for this?? ,it,s not anything to do with ,boats ,,or the Norfolk broads!!!, there are thousands of folk in the same boat..pardon the pun!,:mad:

Sorry Trevor but not sure why you are mad at us - I though the Lounge was the place for idle chit chat as the board index quotes "Non Boat/Broads related Topics and Discussions".

You are of course quite right there are many people with similar and difficult circumstances at the moment. In this particular case it just goes to show however "sucessfull" someone has been there is still room for crap to happen.

  7. Don't you just love this country.

A heart warming tale of greed an jealousy.

I refer of course to the comments not the artical.

"Never done a days work in his life"? So his property empire built itself then?

Yes he may have been quite privileged in the first place but he paid nearly enough in tax each year to keep a family of 8 on benefits, that is despite him paying for his kids schooling rather than choosing to let the state educate them at there expense.

Hopefully he will pick himself up soon or there will be no money left to pay for all those that really have never done a days work in their life.

    :clap:clap:clap

  8. Hi there

I can only comment on shaft drive boats but yes it will run on one engine but you will have to apply a little rudder to compensate for the off centre leverage. Be aware though that the prop on the non running engine will cause the shaft and hence gearbox to rotate as you move thru the water. Some gearboxes apparently do not like that. :norty:

    hope that helps

    Wayne

  9. I wouldnt say rule it out Barry - as has already been mentioned if we do things legally, and with the right paperwork I cant see how there can be much of a problem. By the time you've opened the taps up on your rocket machine you wont have much red in your tank when you get there anyway.
