As can be seen from this footage Breydon shows why Breydon is ideal for testing boats - Baz is down to one engine after opening up, an issue that wont be found at river speeds.
Henry on the other hand is looking good.
Guess what you consider "speed" is - 17 1/2 knots is hardly stuff of Donald Campbell

Thanks all
Just found a download on Stirling's site - the seem to want a fuse on both the positive AND negative lines???

At least their solution is blade fuses.

Hiya
Yes the negative cable - now that makes sense - thanks.
The stirling charger I have is rated at 30A, I guess that is total regardless of the number of battery circuits I am charging so I just have to put a 40A fuse in the negative - right?
I'll swap the eber to the domestics - It is connected to the back of the Isolator on the battery side so just a matter of swapping to the other isolator.
Many thanks

Hi
I have been having a little trouble with my cranking battery not charging. I have traced this down to a "thermal" fuse. My charger is 30A and the fuse is 40A. It is one of those push in / pull out ones and it wont stay in, even with everthing turned off so I guess it is...broke. The cheapest I can find a new one is £45.00
Therefore I am wondering if there is an alternative I can use, especially as I think I will need two. The cable that goes to the domestic batteries has no fuse at all and I am guessing I should have one.
Whilst tracing cables I also noticed that the eber is powered directly off the cranking battery (via a fuse). As it has a 7 day timer I understand why it is directly powered but why the cranking battery not the domestics?
Many thanks

That's good the Ian - That will make your hour, or two....or several at the pump much more bearable

Looking at page 16 of MBM I think we all need to support Ian in his need to stop off at the Medway for petrol ...lol

Hi Brian
I have seen these before:

If its of any use I may have a remote control hydraulic passarelle coming up for sale to make way for a dingy but that is quite heavy

Hi all
As the title says I am looking for some advice. I have four of the parts as in the picture in the remote control unit for my Pasarelle. One channel was not working so swaping the parts over proved this is what is at fault - as well as the white "dust" on the inside of the cover near the part. It seems to be a relay of sorts. The number on it is 211SED012-M which a quick seach on the net shows is an obsolete Fujitsu part. I found a site which says they can get them but min order is $400!
Would anybody know if there is a current alternative ?
Not sure if I am keeping or selling the Pasarelle but either way I need to get it working again.
Thanks in advance

Hi Guys
Just come over the St. Olaves bridge - your marina looks mostly clear - party on!
-
Rain is forecast for Tuesday and 5 degs for Wed so that may help.

:With regard NYE, is anyone likely to be trying to ice break at St Olaves to get out? Serenity was frozen in solid this morning, except for the aft section around the engines, and the ice was over an inch thick. I ain't driving her through that, so I wondered if anyone wanted a hand with a tender and a boat hook on 31st to clear a path for us all .... Adam ?????
Let me know if ur doin that as I'd love to....come and watch

We too use Bt fon. IMHO with iPhones etc becomming more and more the norm I would have thought in the future free wifi would be expected rather than a chargeable extra

Hiya Heather

Hi Baz
Dont think you have much choice as your two speed gearbox will naturally dictate your consumption- either neutral or 20 knots

Well Barry says he has soft hands

Keep the filters dirty and it won't use any

Tolls
in Broads Chat
Hiya
Take your point about all waterways auhorities charges and certainly not interested in a crusade
IMHO the BA do a good job that needs doing and I am quite happy to pay for the benefits it gives us. If we are all realistic about it the Tolls are a very small cost of owning and running a boat.
However it is attitudes and policies thatI have been disagreeing with the BA about for some time. The details are of course between me and them, however suffice to say I am quite happy to pay my tolls on a fair and reasonable basis.
The problem is of course, as with any monopoly running what is effectively a service they can become ....shall we say...a little less customer focused.

Hiya I don't know either but can find out. However one only has to read the minutes of the ba meetings on their website to feel their arrogance over tolls and I am aware of this from personal experience

But with respect the level of tolls still does not justify a 55% rise in 5 years

Was going to ask whether there was a problem with water making its way forward against the inertia of the boat but then remembered there wouldn't be any
But by the same token the water in the system will remain on both sides of the boat, not just one side or the other on a frequently changing basis

Hiya
Just wondering about Eberspachers..as you do..oh...just me then.
Anyway - What are the pros and cons of the Air type vs the water type. To my thinking the wet type with a few blown matix around the boat has to give a better heat transfer and more even heat than the air type?
Would be interested in peoples experiances.
