  8. I consider myself lucky I moor ajacent to a very pleasent couple who live aboard their boat who are always ready to assist when I am leaving and returning to my mooring (without be asked), but more importantly always available for a chat and general help and advice, these people are the eyes and ears of the yard, they are always aware of what is going on and have even informed me when I have inadvertly left my VHF on, to their inconvenience after a weekend away on the boat, I take my hat off to them. However there are some people who claim to live aboard I would not want moored in the marina let alone adjacent to me, one springs to mind who thinks its OK to moor a half sunken, oil leaking, apaulingly kept, WWII amphibious landing craft in Thorpe island, I find this an eyesore and would certainly not want it moored next to me. I do not mean to offend anybody but its just my opinion.
  9. Hi Wayne I would say approx 1970-74 ish
  10. They were two different companies Neil, Breydon Marine was owned by Jimmy Cheeseman, Burgh castle yacht station by Beck and Martin. Breydon marine I believe advertised in Hoseasons brochure. them pictures do bring back memories.
  11. Has any body got any pics of Burgh Castle Yacht Station, it was run by two men Wilfred Beck and David Martin, when I was young I used to work there Saturday mornings to start with filling up fuel and water, then in the summer holidays spent all my time in the day working there and would then work in the Fishermans bar and restaurant till it was time to cycle back home to Gorleston. Their boats were advertised in the Blakes catalogue and all began with Burgh ie Burgh Princess, Queen, Countess, Duke, Prince I cannot recall the rest. Any pics or info I would really enjoy raeding.
