  1. Aye Carrrumba!! Lowestoft is walkable?? Only if you're 15yrs old, Ten foot long legs and and a camp bed for when you get there. The railway Stn from Oulton to lowestoft commands a packed lunch and a shooting stick, an inhaler if your the remotest bit chesty and a razor for when you're halfway there if you want to look respectable the other end. Don't forget the Commodore has its own moorings and the public ones give you access to the Lady of the Lake, Wherry, Commodore and the wine bars.

  2. Pound for Pound Lead is without doubt the best thing for the job. But, IIb for £ it is by far the most expensive when there are alternatives available for nominal costs. Albeit there would be more space required to affect the desired load. Having said that there may be a few places of worship around the Broads area still untouched! :River Police:bow

  3. Hello familyOMG, Welcome, Please excuse tryping. I don't know what sort of thing you're thinking of but the Broads are steeped in culture. No doubt i will offend someone by missing something out but anyway if its culture you're after then how about stopping off first at How Hill, and check out the Nancy Oldfield Trust, Then onto St. Bennets Abbey, From there a quick diversion and pop to South Walsham Broad and take in the nature reserve, Back to the Norfolk Wherry Trust then on to Great Yarmouth. The next port of call could be the Roman Burgh Castle and so to the Abbey at St. Olaves. From there you could take in Somerleyton Hall and on to Oulton Broad! Obviously with teenagers you'd want to bypass all the hostelries that line the route. There well i'm all cultured out now anyhoo. Enjoy yourselves and someone no doubt will post all the places your young herbets would like, Swimming pools etc.etc. Oh just remembered the museum of the Broads in Stalham :dancecheers

  4. Hi, and welcome to the forum, any info is always welcome , we have started to use led street/yard lighting and can vouch about the difference in led ,s,for example we have put flood lights up with 1 led lamp fitted that gives off the same amount of light as a 250w son t sodium....you don,t want to look directly at one of these!! :wave

Are they the same as the ones on your Dive Deck Trevor? ;)

  5. Me and Quo Vadis are in the middle of stripping an old Birchwood that fell from its trailer during a journey by road for tup north and getting deeper into it have found lots of old Sash weights laid on top of cork flooring tiles. They've settled nicely and looks to be ideal. They are still in it at St. Olaves and i'm sure the owner would let you have them for a couple of bob

  6. Do you think that perhaps an Oriental or Chinese or even a Far Eastern takeaway may have been a tad more politically correct or is it because you cant spill to crave your lift? :norty: Anyhoo as for the repair, jobs a gooden :clap mind you dont trip though

  7. Sorry i might have misled you here, slates when hot shatter they don't send chards flying all over the shop but when the slate split the pieces are like glass. They crumble as well and my thought was in clearing the site with bare hands they may have caused someone grief when collecting handfuls. I have in fact fitted slate worktops in kitchens but there is always a disclaimer from the manufacturers Do not place hot pans etc. directly on surface as there is with all worktops. The slates i thought were being recommended were tired old thin roofing slates that were the problem. As with everything there are differing grades of natural substances and i bow to others superior knowledge of said subject. Please accept apologies

  8. Having worked in the building trade for forty years with the first twenty as a roofing contractor i can assure anyone that the people using slates under a disposable bbq must have been very lucky as they can explode when hot and shatter razor blade like pieces all over. Be careful brandenjg try and find yourself a proper raised grill of some sort to rest your barby on and when you're finished let it cool down and take it home with you.

  9. I was neither buying or selling Transit vans although i do have a Transit for sale but i think someone in Stamford has bought it :party: But, i do have a wooden, Three man, (sorry person) Canadian Canoe for sale which the owners who now live near Henley on Thames has asked me to put on Fleabay but was hoping that a far more learned person than myself namely Mr. Strowager might assist with some i.d and possible reserve price to ask if i can work out how to get pictures on here. By the way a most enjoyable weekend was had at the New Inn Rockland well done them :clap

  10. Hello Jim, Mine like a few others are cut made from an offcut of Pvcu used in the window and fascia trade. Easy to cut with a hand saw and file the edges, drill etc. as you would a piece of ply. I with a few others are going to Rockland this evening if its possible i could leave you some somewhere if you're En Route  (25/02/12)

  11. I own a boat that is quite capable of going to sea and we've taken her. Spent three quarters of the trip with the bow spit under water and her indoors with an unusual shade of green in her cheeks but thoroughly enjoyed it and will go again. We can also tour the whole system apart from under Potter and Wroxham which we would like to do so we obtained a rib (courtesy Quo Vadis) with outboard and when the weather permits will do so. BUT my old tub is definitely UNSUITABLE for us due to the fact there's not enough room for her shoes!:lol::lol:
