  1. It is also one of the best places to see these:-
The day before I got there was continuous heavy rain. Wombats are nocturnal but hate getting wet like our Badger. So the had not eaten for 36 hours and were out forageing during the day.

  2. I’d be annoyed if they’d substituted my order with Budweiser. Gotta laugh hey! This is the third day running I’ve taken everything out if the shed and then put it all back. I’ve even pressure washed the grass.

  3. We have a dwarf breeze block wall in our back garden around the bbq area.  It used to be dressed with slate.  Last year under orders I removed it.  We got an estimate for someone to come and render it with coloured render - about £600 - Wow and wow again and there is only about 9 x m2 in total.  Stuff that, way to expensive.  So now was the time.  After cleaning / scraping off  I had a go at it mysen but what material to use? - Frost proof flexible floor tile adhesive, the polymer porcelbond stuff would have to sufffice.  On it went everywhere, allowed to cure, scraped flat, DA sanded, then dressed again. DA'd and hoovered off which is where I am at now.  Next stage is the textured masonry paint 1st coat which I will apply today.
Yesterday I also got the gutters cleaned out inside and out, along with the facias and soffits all round the house / conservatory / garage, they are all upvc and now look sparkling

A good tip I’ve found is not to render with your notched trowel.

Which boat is my daughter on?

Its 1986, there were quite a lot of this model of boat in hire fleets. There is still at least one on hire today.

This one is still around in private ownership.

  5. Jealous of the skills they have but why when the customer bring something broken in do they say “what would you like us to do to it?” “Could you put it in your skip please I haven’t got room in mine. I always hated that uncle anyway.” What do they think the people brought it in for? It’s because they can get it repaired for nothing instead of paying mega bucks.

  6. The National Police Chiefs Council NPCC has now issued new guidance in light of the over zealous policing of the lockdown.
Officers have been told people should not be punished for travelling a “reasonable distance” to exercise - following criticism of heavy-handed tactics used to enforce the Covid-19 lockdown in some areas.
The new guidance, issued by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) and the College of Policing, also states road checks on every vehicle are “disproportionate”.
    It states:
Use your judgement and common sense; for example, people will want to exercise locally and may need to travel to do so, we don’t want the public sanctioned for travelling a reasonable distance to exercise.
Road checks on every vehicle is equally disproportionate. We should reserve enforcement only for individuals who have not responded to engage, explain, and encourage, where public health is at risk.
In the light of that I would suggest that travelling a few miles to work on your own boat in isolation is reasonable. Unfortunately I live 100 miles away so shall stay put for now until the restrictions are eased in some way.

Travel a few miles a day!
You’ll still be at the boat before this is all over.

This is embossed plastic sheet, in A4 size. It is sold for modelling cobblestones, in 4mm scale. You can also buy brickwork, in the same material. You can see by the price that I bought it several years ago. It is now over £5 a sheet!
A little bit of trickery, with what they call "dry brushing" in enamel paint, and you arrive at a fair representation of Norfolk knapped flint.

I think I'm quite pleased with that. It may be slightly too dark, but once I have made a farm cottage out of it, with brick surrounds to the windows and corners ; a Norfolk pantile roof and some climbing roses around the doorway, I don't think it will look too bad.
Or I may go the whole hog and build the "Railway Tavern" out of it!

The brick surrounds to windows doors and corners are known as Quoins. Some modern build houses that have that detail are also fake. Shop bought and adhered with a bobby silicone. I’m in the process of manufacturing some faux sandstone ones for a new build near Norwich. We’ve made a few moulds and a vibrating table. Will continue as soon as.

  8. Was a time when in Norfolk a 'floater' referred to a suet dumpling! A plate of floaters in a puddle of gravy was once a staple meal.
As for Andrew's prediction, will boats now feature a fashionably new brown boot topping?

No duet in a Norfolk dumpling

  9. I think we need to stay factual y’know?

Please accept my humble apologies. As the title of the topic was Coronavirus I thought I’d post something relevant. Silly me
